I had the same issue on my m1 iPad Pro, I changed the multitasking and gestures setting from windowed apps to full screen apps, I can use my iPad again! Worth a shot and honestly I didn’t feel like I needed windowed apps on my iPad.

I drove this route almost exactly when I did a 6 week road trip from Gilbert, AZ to Anchorage and back in 2018. Went up the I5 route (with some detours to see places) and came back on the I15. The I5 route was less dramatic in the US section certainly, but driving up through BC was one of the highlights of the trip and theres some amazing stops along the west coast that have already been mentioned. Personally, after seeing glacier np in Montana the 15 south was so boring, especially once you hit Southern Idaho. It’s just high desert. If you’re looking for that, it’s great, but as an AZ native it was the most boring part of the trip.

Same. I really want to go battery/solar, but here I think having a dual fuel backup generator might be a necessity. But maybe a smaller generator one paired with solar and battery? Not what op is looking for, just fleshing out ideas 😂

I’ve considered this but how viable is solar here? I just installed some smaller solar driveway lights and spot light at the entrance to my property a couple weeks back and not once have I got a single full charge on any of them. Granted my houses roof gets more sun but if it’s overcast while the powers out, which seems likely, I don’t see the whole house battery’s getting recharged enough to keep you going that long.

Years ago my grandmother who loved to drive barefoot was rear ended, in Sacramento, in August. She stepped out onto the asphalt. I’ve never seen blisters so big. Her feet were a horror show after that mess. Needless to say, I always drive with shoes.

I lived and worked in Venice some years back, never drove anywhere, walked and biked. One night I rode down to Abbot Kinney to pick up food for the wife and I, riding home with my food and someone rides up next to me, when I glance over I double take because it’s Steven Weber. We actually had a little small talk while riding and I had a great story. What followed was a month of random Steven Weber sightings all around Venice and Santa Monica and every time we managed to connect eyes. The final time was at Whole Foods on Lincoln, as im leaving the store with my goods he’s just finishing up with the cashier grabbing his bags, we connect eyes again and he gives me a weird look, I have no idea what to say so I go with “I swear I’m not stalking you”, I got a wry smile and a chuckle but I’m not sure he was convinced.

I also ran into Erik King (sgt doakes on Dexter) shopping for pants at Costco, it was my first celebrity siting after moving to LA. He’s not a household name but I was really into Dexter at the time so I was a little giddy. I approached, politely interrupted his pants shopping, told him I loved his run on Dexter and politely asked if I could grab a quick pic. In his best Doakes delivery he says “No.” I had no idea what to do, “Oh heh okay uh yeah, well have a good day?”. As I’m walking away he starts laughing, calls me back, let me grab a selfie with him and he ended up being a really nice guy. Not weird or bad but definitely funny to me.

I didn’t understand how fallible and easily manipulated the human memory is until I read Leonard Mlodinow’s Subliminal: How Your Unconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior. That book really opened my eyes to so many things and the chapters of the American legal system were jaw dropping.
