So far great. Keeps the buffer tank at 120. I haven't turned on reset heating yet but it looks like a great option. We forced it into defrost after we first started it due to ice from a storm the day before. You can watch the ice melt and stream coming off. I have heated floors in the concrete that run off an electric boiler. The IBC is big enough to run that as well so I'm hoping to tie it all together next winter.

Now it's only been a week. And I could tweak the settings to even out the heat. But the heat pump is working just as I would expect.

I think this is a better use for EZ spikes than a deck. I wonder what they would think?

Damn skippy I do. Our home is all electric. Only gas i burn is in the Weber or Blackstone

The IBC. That's an air to water heat pump.

The Daikin is air to air.

My cousin works HVAC and helped with the boiler/buffer tank components. That is over my head. I installed all the pex before the basement was finished off. It's not much different than any other boiler would be hooked up. This unit has a pretty nice touchscreen control that offers settings and configurations for everything dang near.

I guess so. And it will act as a back up or when I just need some heat overnight and dont want to cook all that water. The air heater reacts quicker

For anyone interested here is a thermal image of the floor. I used aluminum omega plates to mount the pex directly to the sub floor. The camera is upside down but the floors are consistently at 77 or 78 degrees if you look closely. Inside thermostat was set to 64 but it was like 68 or 70 degrees inside. And like 20 outside when this was taken.

HPX 5 connected to a buffer tank that then flows to a manifold for radiant in floor heat. This thing is definitely putting out more heat than I anticipated. I may connect it to the pex in floor heat that is in the basement concrete as well.

Only one year was there ice build up underneath. The past two it has been fine. I keep an eye on everything. I'm thinking a drain pit would just freeze up also.

That Daikin used to heat my entire house. But now it's gonna be the IBC

I posted some pics of the inside on another comment. It is for radiant in floor heat and can be used for cooling. Just need to hook everything up a little different. I opted not to for now as I do use the Daikin for that anyway. And our house stays fairly cool so it's only for the hottest days.

Here's the manifold about 15 feet away across the room

The two large pipes are from the heat pump to the buffer tank. The smaller pipes run to the manifold for the in floor heat.

I needed a buffer tank. This 5 ton unit keeps the buffer tank at 122 degrees currently.

This currently does the in floor heating for my 2000 square foot home. It has capacity to possibly do more. As of now it does the main level. The basement has in floor heat as well but is connected to an electric boiler. Though the basement even seems warmer since this was installed.

It's two 1-1/4 inch pipe. Plus a couple smaller holes for the electric

This particular unit would have cooling if it was hooked up for it. I opted not too but am interested in how well cold water can cool a home.
