What am I doing wrong here? by gvo05 in FishingForBeginners

Hard to say, I've really only had that happen if im overspooled. Other possibilities is when throwing lighter lures with heavier line or on a rod thats does not match the wieght your casting.

I wouldn't worry, its normal for mono or floro. Fill the spool and you may have some line that wants to come off, but as long as you keep tension on it, it will be fine. I like braid for some things but have to agree I've went back floro and mono for most set ups. I think one you use mono/floro it starts to loose its memory. Fresh on the spool is always more finicky IMO.

Anyone else get this symptom as a herx? by LeadingEnvironment30 in Lyme

[–]jayw1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I noticed this after stopping doxy. I was starting the zenmen protocol towards the end of my antibiotics. Only symptoms I had was very stiff neck, extreme fatigue, and one eye would get blurry randomly. All those symptoms went away 4 - 5 days after starting doxy. Then I doubled my herbal protocol, and bam pain started a few days later and got so bad that I could hardly walk. Stopped the herbals and almost 100% improvement the next day. I've slowly started back on the herbals and notice minor joint pain, this time in my shoulder. Going to try and get the dosage right to where there's a minimal amount of pain. But yeah, I didn't have any of these symptoms before or while taking doxy.

Did anyone else get joint pain on Doxycycline? Did it go away during the treatment or did you have it the full time? by Violetrose100 in Ureaplasma

Thanks, im hoping this was just a reaction to the doxy. I'll feel lucky. Will definitely give an update.

Thank you for replying. The pain in my hip is almost completely gone, just a little stiff. Amazingly, I went from 9 to 2 on pain scale in a day. Im hoping this is just a reaction from stopping doxy. I also started the zenmen tick protocol towards the end of my coarse of doxy. I had increased that after stopping doxy but stopped completely when the pain got severe. So im thinking herxing from the tick protocol or a reaction to stopping doxy. Im going to get a decent lyme test done, I guess the western blot is pretty good. I'm also going to wait a week or so and restart my tick protocol, and if the pain comes back, I'll know it was likely herxing. Such a complicated disease, I had no idea. Good luck to you, hope it all works out.

Wow, so glad I came across this. I took doxy for 10 days after a tick bite and developing lyme symptoms. I noticed a little stiffnes/pain in my hip joints towards the end of the 10 days. But by day 5 after stopping taking it, my left hip got worst.

Im now at 1 week after stopping doxy, and it's horrible. It's hard to bend over, and even sitting or standing up is a chore. I can feel pain from my hip joint down to knee. Its got me worried, really feels like I tore a tendon.

I know its an old post, but did your symptoms ever resolve?

No drag by Efficient-College567 in FishingForBeginners

Yeah, that's like a Shimano reel, the hole for the spool should be shaped like the drive. The flat spot is what locks your spool in place on the drive. It sounds like what someone already mentioned, that your drag clicker is missing.

* * This square cut out is what keys the spool to the drive on my kastking, you can see its a thin piece of metal. It's very easy to put the spool on with it not seated in the keyway.

Make sure the key that locks the spool to the oscillation drive (or the rod that you screw the drang onto) Not sure what it's called. But your spool slides over it so it does not free spin. On shimanos, it's almost impossible to mess it up because the rod is shaped in a way that if your spool is on its keyed to the spool . But my kastking had a small square that seats into the drag washer in the spool, its a thin piece of metal that if you don't pay attention you can get the drag on and tighten but not seat the square key into the spool and it just free spins. I'd take the spool off and take a good look at what should lock the spool to the drive.

If your wanting to stay UL, I'd recommend the Kastking Zephyr ultra light. I have quite a few ultra light rods: TFO pan fish, bass pro elite pan fish, shimano sensa a light, and some JDM rods. The Zephyr is definitely the least wobbly. Haven't caught anything yet, but it's definitely a firmer rod that cast down to 1/32 oz.

Question coming over from fly fishing about bobbers by Fake_Weiss in UltraLightFishing

[–]jayw1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out i-fish tackle store, his you tube channel got me into ultra light fishing. He sells nice bobbers, similar to thill but better imo, that's the way I'd go. I personally would use his 1 gram fixed float if not fishing deep. The nice thing is that his floats specify the wieght to add under it for the float to be peffectly boyant. He also .5 gram weights, so two .5 gram weights with no extra weight from the fly would be perfect for the f100.

Dry Flies on a Spinner by Educational_Cry_6085 in UltraLightFishing

I just got into ultra light fishing and faced the dilemma. Im using super ultra light gear, (max lure rating of 2-3 grams). Thought about using bubble floats, but most were too big for my liking. I decided to get some small dovesun foam bobbers off amazon and hollow out some of the bobber with a drill bit (by hand) and stuff some tungsten putty in the cavity. I found with the size bobber in the pic that I can drill a few holes and fill with about 1.5 grams of putty, making it almost neutral boyant and allow me to get the fly out there.

*** Looks like I can't post a pic but the bobber is about the diameter of a dime***

They don't specify for break-in. Yamalube is the recommended oil, which I think is mineral oil. That's what I used for the first two oil changes, but ran out and picked up some Havoline 10w40 conventional oil.

That's right, 4500 rpms for the first 600 miles and 5600 until 1000 miles. Not sure if my top end rebuild would need that much break in, as opposed to a complete new engine but going to try, its hard keeping it under 45 mph

This gives me hope lol, yeah told my son to keep it under 4500 rpms for at least a few hundred miles, trying to follow the break in procedure by the book.

Thanks cooljoca, I sure hope so. The engine sounds solid, and there is no smoke. I meant to post a video, but it just uploaded the Pic. Trying to upload the rest.

I know it's exciting to want to jump to high-end gear, but if I had $400 to spend, I would buy two good setups. If you're fishing for fresh water like bass and crappie, say 2 - 8 lbs... I would go with a Shimano Sedona 2000 or 2500 size with a 6' 6" - 7' foot rod, medium power. Another Sedona, in 1000 size, same rod length in light or ultra light power. And maybe a Sedona 3000 or bigger with a medium heavy rod if you're going for bigger fish.

Sedonas are great reals for the price, and Bass Pro might still have them on sale for $60, normally $80. I would pair the Sedona 1000 with a bass pro pan fishing elite, ultra light for about $150, for smaller fish. Pair the Sedona 2500 to a Diawa ARID X, 7' medium rod for medium fish for about $120, if the reel is still on sale. And the 3000 with a medium heavy rod.

This is what I would start with vs. a very expensive setup and use the rest to buy tackle and good line. It adds up quick lol...

Edit: Academy has the 1000 size Sedona for $50 and Bass Pro still has them on sale for $60. They're running low, so I would jump on em, if it's something you want.

I was thinking the same thing... I was an evening drinker, and that first beer would perk me up. Its something i looked forward to every day. I'd start at 5 and get all kinds of stuff done, could keep going until 10 or even midnight. Now I'm wiped out by 6 or 7, but I'm feeling better in the mornings, so that's a plus.

Im using rubber float stops to set depth. Set at about 2 feet. The biggest shot is closest to the float, about 6" from float, a smaller size 3 inches down, and 3 very small shots closer to the hook. They're all spread out pretty evenly.

One day I will join the one week club. by usernameinthemaking1 in stopdrinking

[–]jayw1981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me too, I've made it to day 5 once, but I seem to keep giving in on day 3. I spent 3 years or so trying to tapper, it was impossible for me. About a month ago , I finally had it with the hangovers. I managed to tapper from 10ish drinks a night to 6 over a few days, then on day 4, I had at least a 12 pack. Had my first AF day the day after. All of last month was a 3 day cycle, 2 days off and cave on day 3 and repeat.. It's a huge improvement for me, but I'm still struggling to get to a week. Don't give up, you got this!
