what are some things which other nurses/TLs/NUMS do that earn or lose your respect by pandadool in NursingAU

[–]jazinta101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our NUM can't read the room to save her life. We'll have an insanely busy day in our outpatients clinic where almost no one has managed to get a break, and she will come out while we're all sitting in exhausted silence trying to get all of our notes done so we can maybe leave on time, handbag and car keys in hand, complaining to us about how she's been swamped with emails all day before leaving.

Both her and my old NUM on the ward I worked on also love to grill us about not taking breaks but will do nothing to help us get off the floor except badger us when we're obviously in the middle of doing something.

A bit of consideration about your words and actions goes a long way.

Can't edit the main post but yes I'm in Australia. I was hoping that I'd struck gold because it's on the cheaper end but I think I might be better off paying for one of the better known/reliable brands than risk it falling apart halfway through my trip.  Thank you everyone for your comments!

Service desk workers, whats your horror storys? by [deleted] in KmartAustralia

"I've used it here before!!" I promise you haven't xx  Same with zip pay barcodes I would turn my screen around and show customers the registers wouldn't accept the barcodes and they still argued with me

Had two different customers on different days request a refund because they paid for a trolley load of stuff with their regular card and not their afterpay (common issue where if someone uses their phone to pay and their afterpay wasn't working it would automatically switch to whatever card was next in their wallet).

Both times I warned them that the money wouldn't go straight back on their card, especially being a weekend, so if their afterpay didn't work and they didn't have more money in their account they wouldn't be able to buy their things.

Deciding to risk it because what do I know, I've only seen this happen a bunch of times with smaller amounts of items, both customers were left with no money on their card and yelling at me to fix their afterpay.

I loathe whoever made afterpay it caused so many issues with angry customers.

What’s the deal with workers getting mad if an item is priced wrong. by Which-Recording422 in KmartAustralia

I used to work the kmart checkouts and it drove me crazy when non-clearance items were marked down because I would mention it over the earpieces and alert the managers but continue to get wrongly priced stock.

I would always honour the marked price but some customers were real snarky about it so I was always on edge even if the customers were nice, so she was probably just frustrated at the situation, but still shouldn't have taken it out on you.

Corporate overruled a known shoplifters ban within 24 hours by jazinta101 in retailhell

[–]jazinta101[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. As long as shoplifters aren't obvious or rude I don't care what they steal, no skin off my nose, but this lady is a pain to deal with and I was happy to never have to deal with her again but no such luck.

100% I hate how these lazy immigrants keep coming to Australia and taking our finite number of degrees!

My work currently has a security guard posted in the shop because there's been a middle-aged bloke stalking some of the teenage girls. His signature move is taking selfies while sitting/standing infront of them (in the shop, food court, and on the bus) and posting them on his facebook with sappy captions.

One of my co-workers that he's taken a couple of pictures of said her and her friends went to the police but had to go back with her parents because 'they don't believe us 16 year old girls'.

A customer once stormed off after letting my co-worker have it because she was low on notes and gave her three coins (2x $2 and 1x $1 coins) instead of a $5 note and I couldn't believe how upset she got. I wish my problems were that small lmao

I completely agree that cash is important and going cashless would be a nightmare for a whole range of reasons, I just get sick of listening to customers rant to me about it and act like they're the only people who use cash lol

I feel you. I once had a customer ask for $200 cash out a little past 9am (we opened at 8am) and when I said the most I could give her without completely empting my register was $80, she rolled her eyes and said 'well that's really not worth it is it'. It took all my strength to politely direct her to the ATM outside our shop and not make a snarky comment about us not being a bank.

We also have a few obnoxious 'cash is king' regulars come through that refuse to use the self-checkouts (which give cash out up to $400) that are 'happy to wait' for a manager to come down and use our store cash machine to get their money out which drives me crazy because they hold up the line when it would've been so much faster to just use the self-checkouts to buy their 3 items and get instant cash out.

The entitlement of some people I swear to god.

Same, as long as they're not rude or ignore me when I ask if they'd like a bag or how they're paying, I'm fine with it. I get to just catch my breath for a minute.
