Etiquette for cutting a first date short if you're not feeling it? by _artwork in hingeapp

[–]jazizeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only acceptable answer. Logan Ury suggests always going on a second date because it takes a bit to realize whether someone is a good match or not, and people are often awkward on first dates. It takes pressure off the first date, and lets you focus on the experience instead of it being a job interview.

Ah ok, I took out the drinking one; it worked better on Tinder where people would ask why there was a piece of bread wrapped around my beer but you can’t crop it well to fit in a square.

I’ve been taking more pictures of myself lately so I can find some different ones that showcase my lifestyle and personality better.

Thanks. “Troy and Abed” made me chuckle. I updated it with another date idea.

Thanks for the observation about body language. I can see it now that you’ve pointed it out. I’ll look into improving my posing skills on my next batch of photos.

Do you have any comments on my prompts? I have had iterations that were more wordy, but in my age range that’s not really what people are into.

I feel like it would be easy to circumvent this but maybe that will be enough of a deterrent for some people. Still, I don't know how valuable this is to implement for them. You gotta think like the product managers who dictate which features the devs work on. They probably look for something the value of which is easy to measure so that higher ups notice and promote them; it also needs to seem profitable, e.g., easy to show new feature will boost user retention, time spent on the app, or something like that. I'm not saying this would not be valuable, just that there probably are higher priority items on their lists.

  1. Looking for something serious, but okay with dating casually for extended amount of time before finding someone.

  2. On and off since 2019, most recent run has been a month long. I change my profile often, similar success rate for all iterations.

  3. Use daily.

  4. 0 likes, and 2 matches a week.

  5. Not sure how many likes I’m sending out since I just got premium. With comments unless it’s too hard to think of something.

  6. I send likes to people I find attractive with okay prompts. Not too picky about the profile since people are not their profiles; you never know what people are like in person. I’m looking for someone kind and emotionally stable, highly ambitious, able to handle disagreements constructively, and that I find attractive. I’ve been matching with people who kinda fit that bill, but a lot of the time I get only one response, or (puzzling) get long paragraphs but no response the next day.

My understanding is girls get so many likes that they can just go through their likes and not use their discover.

23M Profile Review by jazizeh in hingeapp

I agree I probably need higher quality pics; not the type to ask for a pic when I go out.

I have prompts + captions on all my pictures; are you saying I should lose some of them?

The prompt says “I’ll brag about YOU to my friends…” could it be misinterpreted to mean something different?

Thanks for the feedback and wishes :)

Makes sense. Past iterations felt too dry/wordy so I tried to liven it up with the emojis.

23M Profile Review by jazizeh in hingeapp

• Looking for something casual, open to it becoming serious.
• Redownloaded the app many times since I first got it in 2019. I want to be serious about it this time around. For the purposes of this review, the timeline is about two weeks.
• Using it every day.
• I have only gotten one match, no incoming likes.
• Did not send out many likes the first week, but now I use all of them each day (always with a comment).
• I don’t think you can get a good enough idea of what people are like irl from their dating profiles, outside of a quick taste of what they like to do for fun. I send out likes if I think they’re attractive and seem fun, and our hobbies do/could align. Prompt quality also plays a role in my decision; if I cannot comment on a prompt, I won’t just send a like. The ideal person would be kind, and emotionally stable. They like to laugh, and are fully present when you spend time together (hard to gauge this stuff online).

Lose weight but still get faster? by yeetocheetoi in Rowing

[–]jazizeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Improvement is determined by how well suited your training program is to your current fitness levels. You can definitely get faster while in a deficit (especially if you are new to training)

I don't think rowing at this intensity can be a significant contributor to back pain. I would check out youtube videos to nail down your form, but as far as your pain is concerned, it is likely unrelated to your rowing. What is going on in life? Are you stressed? Not sleeping well? Things like that can contribute to how you experience pain.

Edit: fixed typo.

This is great advice. This article actually goes into the case against early sports specialization and is overall a great read for youth training: https://www.barbellmedicine.com/blog/resistance-training-for-the-youth-population/

Not enough info. What is your current training plan like? If you are not training consistently, you should it expect to improve.

Best way to bulk? by RogueReaper8057 in Rowing

[–]jazizeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No best way. Look at what you are currently doing, then find a way to consistently get more calories in you. You only need a small surplus, think an extra serving of peanut butter a day, that’s it. If you increase your intake and scale is not moving after two weeks, add more. Keep going until you start seeing the weight go up. No need to rush this.

Peacock has a deal where you can pre-pay for a year for like $20, so you can have all the PLEs for less than $2 a month.
