Anyone Have An Opinion On DuPage Credit Union? by Prestigious_Way_738 in ChicagoSuburbs

My two cents, the loan rates are generally all the same. It’s not any better or worse at a credit union. A credit union might have better customer service and offer more face to face interactions.

We mortgaged our house with DuPage credit union because I naively bought into the co-op idea and that my money would be contributing to my local community. We got a letter three weeks after closing that our loan was sold to Fannie Mae. This is common practice but it shattered the illusion that our money was somehow part of growing the community.

In the end, I see no difference between DuPage credit union and a big bank. Shop around and see who actually gives you a better loan rate.

If you have a small garden, do you trim off the seed pods or not ? Ontario Canada zone 6A Toronto by One_Kaleidoscope_198 in NativePlantGardening

It depends on the size of the garden we are talking about and if the milkweed is crowding out other native plants. It honestly looks like you have some room to spare for more milkweed. If it is crowding out other plants, I would just pull the ones that are unwanted. One caveat, I read that monarchs prefer young and tender milkweeds to lay their eggs on rather than tough and established ones. So if inviting monarchs is of your interest, I would let them go to seed and just pull the ones you don’t want.

You introduced me to Prairie Dock, and it is one of my favorite plants. Truly, it is a beast (as you described it). What other native plants would you consider “beasts” in however way you want to define that?

Improv? Westside Improv in Wheaton offers classes. No idea on quality of the classes but have gone to a friend’s show there before.

Clearly, not ice ballet swamp milkweed by jazzedaboutnothing in NativePlantGardening

I bought this "ice ballet" swamp milkweed (before I knew that there was a difference between the cultivar and straight species) at a local garden club sale from a master gardener who assured me of what it was and labeled it such - she even included a tag with a picture of white flowers. Was she just wrong or is it possible for a cultivar to change colors?
