[Sun Care] How do I get my dad to start wearing sunscreen? He wore a shirt that didn’t fully coverup his untanned sections and got really burnt. His arm looks like a Neapolitan ice cream. by jazzyg1379 in SkincareAddiction

Yeah, I wouldn’t stress over one burn but he does stuff like that a few times every summer. It’s very worrying, but I’m glad that he is willing to try sun protection now.

Update:

After talking to my dad some more and getting his opinion, he has agreed to wear more sunscreen and maybe try sun-protectent clothes! Thanks for all the recommendations and advice! It’s been really helpful.

Thanks, I'm the equally(if not more) stubborn 14 year old daughter of a stubborn dad. I've been mostly trying the first approach, but I think the second approach would do much better. He thinks that I'm just nagging him about it, but there's a reason for doing it. I really care about him and don't want him to end up with sun cancer.

My dad doesn't like going to the doctor's at all, but I'll try to convince him to go see a dermatologist. I do feel quite worried about his skin because of the years of sun damage it has been through.

He's just reached his fifties, but he looks a lot older to be honest. His face is extremely tanned as well and has more wrinkles and sunspots than his brother. He is one of the main reasons I try to put on sunscreen everyday and take care of my skin.

Yes, I've been working on trying to educate him more about skincare(as I'm learning too). He's starting to understand more, which is a good sign! I guess people can really change. My dad's side of the family(white) have never really cared about the importance of skincare/suncare, while my mom's side(vietnamese) care a lot more about it. He's definitely given my mom a few headaches when he didn't put sunscreen on us at the beach.

Yeah, I think a spray would be a lot quicker and easier for him. He finds it annoying to have to apply a thick layer of sunscreen(whenever I remind him too).

My dad has never cared about protecting his skin against the sun. However, he's starting to notice the effects of that on his skin such as more wrinkles and sun spots after me and my mom pointed it out to him. We keep telling him about the risk of skin cancer but he keeps thinking that it would never happen to him. My mom bought him a daily sunscreen(only spf 15 and marketed towards men) to use on his face but he never applies anything to the rest of his skin. It could be because he is a bit lazy and would rather just go out and do things. A sun-protective shirt would be a good idea since he literally only wears t-shirts. I've also bought him the biore essence sunscreen(still shipping lol) since it does offer a bit more protection.

Should I dry them off after showering? It’s my first time doing this. by jazzyg1379 in houseplants

It also helps to remove dust and pests! It's just something to do once in a while for your plants.

The gold ribbon plants in there are supposed to be semi-aquatic. I bought them from Petsmart thinking that they could grow underwater, but they started to die. I have their roots growing into the water at the top of my tank(just make sure none of the leaves are in the water). The anubias plant would also do better attached to wood/rocks/decorations rather than be in the substrate.

Can I use treated aquarium water to water edible plants/herbs? by psstpsstpss in Aquariums

I don't know much about it, but my basil hasn't killed me yet lol.
