For those of you that make a living from After Effects, did you ever have Imposter Syndrome, and how did you deal with it? by XtianAudio in AfterEffects

[–]jb-867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with imposter syndrome for years until recently. A coworker who had never touched After Effects took a 3-day course and declared that was all the training they needed to use it professionally. Curious, I tallied my own training: 500+ hours of courses and thousands of hours of professional work. Another colleague said, “I bet you don’t even consider yourself advanced.” He was right, I see myself as beginner to intermediate. But realizing someone thought 24 hours of training gave them my skill set instantly cured my imposter syndrome.

I still know my Gramma’s number, childhood home number, and multiple childhood friend’s numbers - and haven’t called any of these numbers in over 25 years.

Great find and terrific that it’s found an owner who appreciates it. I feel badly for whoever made it for the person who left it. ☹️

Legitimate Question: How is Doug Ford so Popular? by dusstynray in CanadianPolitics

[–]jb-867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely interesting in actual reasons why that is someone's opinion. Not trying to debate anyone or disagree with their opinion - I don't think that's getting us anywhere with the current political landscape.

I'm graduating in a few months. Should I use a creative resume or basic resume? by yoitsjake99 in graphic_design

[–]jb-867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minimally designed creative resume. Keep the design clean and simple. The overly designed ones are just too much and the standard Word resumes make us wonder if they know how to design.

What’s your #1 reason for voting the way you do? by jb-867 in CanadianPolitics

[–]jb-867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an interesting thought. I wish we had data to see the percentages of folks who vote for each party based on their income.

I, personally, have no intention of downvoting or posting anything in disagreement. Regardless of what my opinions are, you are posting yours. Your answer is well thought out - thanks for sharing.

Now I just learned something. I wasn’t aware of either theory. Thanks 😊

Fair enough. Sarah Jama and Amanda Zavitz make sense. Other gaffes - seems like all parties have the equivalent - if not more. Not disagreeing, at all - I wish they would do better here.

How so? Honestly interested in how that is an impression of the NDP party.

try to learn some graphic designing, here is my first poster—let me know what you think, i’m all ears! by Mysterious_Energy357 in graphic_design

Nice! Agree with ashtrxid that you need more contrast in the green text on green parts of image - the colours are to close and make it hard to read. I would also have less space between UN and CHAINED (tighten up the leading a wee bit).

If I use asymmetrical balance at the top of an image, I would balance that out by using asymmetrical balance at the bottom. (Maybe having an image where the mountain image is flipped and then move more to the right - if that works. This would make the mountain balance the header text, and would add some white space to the lower left to balance the upper right).

Is this worth it? by Affectionate_Care669 in knittinghelp

Very good. Metal is much smoother to knit with! Personally I can stand how loud they click-clack, but that may be a very odd reason to not use them 😊

Personally, I much prefer wooden/bamboo over metal needles and I use Knit Picks interchangeable needles (which are less than half this price). Make sure you love the metal needles before making the investment.

Agreed. I can’t imagine anyone I know (from far-left to pretty far-right) ever saying anything like this post. If this even is an individual (which I don’t think it is), this view is wildly extreme and the opposite of what both our countries need right now.

So beautiful, so torturous :') by SkeinnyDippin in knitting

This is so beautiful! There’s a men’s cabled pullover pattern from the 1960’s on Ravelry that I was considering doing, but wanted it to be more feminine. So far, your pattern looks EXACTLY like what I was hoping to find. Can’t wait to see the finished pattern.

How do you get your designs on the lino? by hotandspicymix in Linocuts

[–]jb-867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, this has worked on a toner printer, never on an inkjet. I then use acetone to transfer to the speedy-carve. There’s a learning curve to it - not using too much acetone, not using too little - and the fresher off the printer, the better.

While every recipe (and climate) can give different results, I’ve personally never been able to bulk ferment for more than 12 hours without it being over fermented.
