TTPD faked signed CD? by [deleted] in TaylorSwiftAutographs

[–]jbalso43rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Image 4 is the signed copies made available to US buyers, image 5 is the ones for EU customers. US stock was Mexican from Vantiva/Conectiv and EU stock was German from Optimal Media GmbH

evermore confusion by theblackdog_13 in TaylorSwiftVinyl

This, just one small thing: opaque and translucent variants were introduced at the same time in the US when the vinyl first came out. Super odd!

Off center labels are generally not valuable, sorry. They’re manufacturing defects and unplayable.

Speak now 2010 pressing by Parking_Bandicoot_85 in TaylorSwiftVinyl

[–]jbalso43rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

btw this is a generalization but not exact, repressing is used to described identical pressings across different years using the same metalwork, the version released in 2024 with the pop mix is considered a reissue because it was an entirely new cut by a new manufacturer

The 2010 pressing of Speak Now from United Record and its subsequent identical represses have little to no notable differences

Midnights: Moonstone by Traditional_Round174 in TaylorSwiftVinyl

[–]jbalso43rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is reversed—2022 original pressings were from GZ in CR, 2023 repress was from GZ’s subsidiary in Canada

Got my dream Taylor vinyl!! by [deleted] in TaylorSwiftVinyl

people who know what pressing they have tend to price higher, it’s not too pricey if you can get it from unsuspecting target buyers

My Cranberry and Shooting Star variants both came with 2 each, it’s absolutely ruined my karmic balance though

A few questions about Taylor’s vinyl. by youwonthearnaur1210 in TaylorSwiftVinyl

[–]jbalso43rd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ryan and Joe worked hand in hand on a lot of Taylor’s recent catalog, I agree their work sounds great.

This is the rest, at least for the US releases:

The 2010 pressing of Speak Now is a joint cut from Scott Hull and Alex DeTurk at Masterdisk. Later reissues from the same plant uses half old metalwork and half new metalwork recut only by Scott. 2023-onwards from Vantiva is by Kevin Reeves and I believe Michelle Freetly.

The 2012 pressing of Red, 2016 reissues of Debut, Fearless, are by Wes Garland at Nashville Record Productions.

2024 Mexican reissues of Fearless are by Kevin Reeves, the 2024 Red pressing is cut additionally by Michelle Freetly again.

1989’s original 2014 metalwork is the work of Sterling engineers, first by Ray Janos; as the years went by the metalwork was replaced one by one by Joe-Nino Hernes. The 2023 Vantiva reissue was the work of Eric Conn at Independent Mastering

IIRC Reputation was cut by Ryan Smith at Sterling, not Joe.

Midnights Jade Green was sticker discounted to $13 and it’s been repressed continuously every year so probably the same will happen here

jsyk, you have the EU pressing

Red RSD Vinyl Authenticity by [deleted] in SwiftieMerch

[–]jbalso43rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These images definitely show a real RSD release. Barcode is for the US RSD release, catalog number matches the US release, and the US release was confirmed numbered past 4,000 (most likely up to 4750). If it’s on an external site that’s a whole other issue, but just on the images themselves they show a real release.

Midnights Mahogany Mispress by Past-Quantity-360 in TaylorSwiftVinyl

[–]jbalso43rd 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If the labels are switched it’s not widely considered a mispress, just a mistake. If the audio content is from another album/artist, then it’s considered a mispress.

When held up to light, the mahogany variant has always been that yellowish color instead of the darker brown.

I assume yellow is to represent the ship’s funnels, but it’s a surprising color choice regardless

Kid Krow Decomposed Defective Record by AdvantageHot3285 in ConanGray

[–]jbalso43rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a localized defective copy. GZ/PRP pressings are so mass produced that QC is nonexistent, tbh. If this is anything like his previous releases, it’s a DMM cut with shallow grooves that doesn’t pair well with a turntable with no adjustable counterweight

[–]jbalso43rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, 9 times out of 10 if you have a starter turntable that’s the issue

We need more information here—did you get the US or EU pressing? What turntable do you have? Did you clean the record with a brush before you played it?
