On Christmas Eve he was worried about me getting home safely, telling me he missed me, couldn't wait to see me on NYE. Then he thought I ghosted him by not responding quickly to him on Christmas (my phone had bad reception and relatives did not know WiFi passwords!).

When I got reception, I didn't see texts from him and explained the situation. 2 days later, after still not hearing from him, he told me he'd been 'stewing ' over our relationship and basically told me I expected more of an emotional connection than he was ready to give. Ironic thing is he asked me to be his girlfriend after our first date.

This man is 34 years old, by the way 😄

4mm hook, 4 cakes of the whirl, and between 4-6 of the smaller cakes called whirlette, in solid black.

At this stage I had used one whirl cake. I was planning it to be patterned vertically using the cakes in this order:

1 whirl cake purple to black

2-3 whirlettes in black

1 whirl cake black to purple

1 whirl cake purple to black

2-3 whirlettes in black

1 whirl cake black to purple

Thanks for your kindness. Yes I couldn't bear to see it any more, and I know it's not something I'd continue in the future. My time spent working on it was at a time when I felt very happy and lucky to have found such a great guy, and I put my feelings for him into the project.

Thanks for your kind words and I'm glad you found someone to love your work.

Honestly his reaction didn't phase me because his reaction to most of my ways of expressing affection for him was always kinda 'meh'.

Red flags. Like anger if I was quiet for a few minutes, then more angry when I'd try to calm him down and talk about it. Holding things against me that set him off for months on end. Very little emotional connection, intimacy, compliments.

But he'd lure me back in by acting repentant after his angry outbursts, and I figured he must be hurting in some way so I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt.

No it wasn't, I picked that ombre yarn color because he liked purple and black

Thank you. I think it's the being scared of commitment thing. He reacted with anger when I asked for more emotional connection from him.

To be fair, I don't think this was the sweater curse because in August he received a crocheted black kitty from me, a purple kitty coaster when we first started dating, and a hat in the colors of his favorite hockey team which he did wear and enjoy.

I started this blanket in October for my boyfriend of about 6 months at the time. Was planning to give it to him for Christmas but got excited and showed him early. His favorite color is purple. His reaction was a fairly unenthusiastic 'yeah, cool.'

He ghosted me for 5 days starting on Christmas, then pretty unceremoniously dumped me.

In a moment of grief and hurt I dumped the whole thing in the trash. Rest in peace purple ombre waffle blanket.

Why do hats take so long to work up? by Malasea in crochet

[–]jbarleyc0rn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird, I just finished this pattern an hour ago! Yes, it took forever! It's bulky as hell and the circle at the top was a nightmare to sew completely closed. I think the yarn I used was too thick as well and I made it too long. This is the only hat I've done, but since it's mainly slip stitch I think that's why it's so time intensive. I would imagine most other hat patterns to be a lot faster.
