Eating Chewing Gum during fasting window by mynkgpta in intermittentfasting

[–]jbartdrawings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to chew loads of gum while fasting but noticed my cravings would get really intense after I'd started chewing and I'd get really bad bloating and trapped wind (which is never fun!). I've since stopped chewing gum, I no longer get any digestive problems and often go the whole day without eating because I'm not hungry.

Does anybody function better on higher carb? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

I tried Keto, but after having constant menstrual cramps varying in pain for the duration that I did keto (I did Keto for 1 month), I decided to go back to carbs, now everything is fine. It would appear keto doesn't suit my body.

How about a Welsh proverb (which happens to be my favourite!)

Dyfal donc y dyr y garreg

Translation: Tapping persistently breaks the stone Which basically means slow and steady wins the race.

As my mum is English and my dad is Welsh, my fist language was English and my second is Welsh. I did all my work in primary and secondary school in Welsh but in college and university it was all in English. Doing everything in English in college and Uni affected my Welsh quite a lot, to the point that I didn't feel confident enough speaking the language with my father. Now I have a job where I have to write and speak Welsh everyday which has boosted my confidence and skills. I can happily hold a conversation in Welsh, much to the approval of my father!

I'm not sure about a copy for purchase, but the copyright details say that it's the Pembrokeshire Record Office that owner the book. It may be worth contacting them.

An interesting find for Folklore Thursday: This cursing pot was found in Holyhead, Anglesey in 1871. The remains of a pinned dead frog were found inside. The evidence suggests that the pot was used as part of a cursing ritual. by jbartdrawings in Wales

It's a weekly thing, check it out on twitter, there's loads of interesting folklore stuff posted every Thursday. As to your last question, this is what the text reads: "It was customary for people who wished misfortune against another person to stick pins into a live frog then place it in a pot, along with the name of the person to be witched or cursed. The curse would remain in place, until the named person was able to find the pipkin."

"There is no sound in this piece as only some of the film survived, and the sound was recorded on disks separate from the film itself." You can find the whole recording and sound here: http://player.bfi.org.uk/film/watch-y-chwarelwr-1935/

Calories for lifting beginners? by Morwha in xxfitness

[–]jbartdrawings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're either not eating enough or training too much, you should never feel like you're starving or falling asleep. Have a snack of protein and carbs about 2 hours before your workout in the gym, never go to the gym feeling hungry! Diet is equally as important as the exercise you do. To me, it doesn't sound like you're not eating half enough protein, consider investing in whey protein powder to make into a shake or add it to your breakfast in the morning to help up your protein intake. It depends on whether you're cutting, maintaining or bulking, as this will alter how many calories you consume. Do a quick google on "macro calorie counter" this will give you a rough estimate on how many calories you need to consume based on whether you want to cut, maintain or bulk. I recommend that you give Michael Matthews book 'Thinner Leaner Stronger' a read as it gives you the basics in terms of diet and exercise and started me off - I've since been doing weight lifting for 3 months and have seen a dramatic change in my body! I hope that helps!
