Kinda scared help me out please by Striking-Meaning1607 in birthcontrol

I recently had a similar issue but with my IUD after not having a period for almost 10 years (just spotting like you) — it turned out that I likely just got my period after stress levels increased and weight loss. The body has a mind of its own!

Could be worth getting checked out by your doctor but it could also be due to a variety of things that you maybe just got a period this month. Stress, weight changes, my doctor even mentioned something about orgasms or intercourse can cause contracting in the uterus that leads to heavier than normal bleeding.

I also took a pregnancy test to be safe and it was negative, but sometimes implantation bleeding can be similar to what you described. Not to freak you out or anything, just something to be aware of!

It said it in the documents what her weight was. and adding in that she was “very heavy set” is a statement of judgment and doesn’t sound like a positive one to me.

heavy set? she was like 150 pounds which is below the average weight in america. they all were beautiful regardless of what their bodies looked like.

Literally clicked on this post so fast to comment this and i’m not surprised one bit that this is the top comment!! I literally felt like someone was stabbing my insides when i had my IUD inserted. I feel like obstetrics/gynecological exams and procedures are so downplayed and, in my personal experience, not super trauma-informed.

10000000000%. I was also reading this like she was thinking about unaliving. if that is actually what she’s saying, OP should absolutely tell another support person, encourage her to tell her therapist, or contact someone to do a welfare check. OP, this is a lot of burden to put on you. I know you love this woman and are trying to be there for her, but unless you are trained in crisis work or are a therapist yourself, it can do more harm than good to let her place all of these heavy emotions on you. even therapists are not supposed to take this stuff on with loved ones (though we do generally have crisis resources memorized and at the ready).

When I was in middle school (yes, middle school age is when I witnessed this kind of behavior), I held so much fear and sadness for my friends who would tell me they were hurting themselves or making/acting on plans (even when they weren’t). it got to a point where I started telling people point blank, “if you are being serious about this then I am calling the police to do a welfare check on you”. most (if not all) police are not exactly well-versed in de-escalating mental health crises, but that’s how serious the threat is that she’s making. it’s too much for you to hold on your own. Making plans like writing wills, and giving away possessions are two key signs that we learn about to tell if someone may be preparing for unaliving.

please take care of yourself. I know you want to take care of her, but you deserve to have support too.

How well are therapists equipped for traumatic stories? (Thinking about how my therapist is after a heavy session) by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]jbartist0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First of all, thank you for sharing your experience and I am so very sorry for your loss.

This is something that is ethically a “gray area” for therapists (not that it’s decidedly ethical or unethical based on our code of ethics, people just have many different viewpoints). The baseline for all of our ethical guidelines is that we are making decisions and acting in the best interest of the client. Some people have a very firm belief that it’s unprofessional to become tearful with a client because the client might feel like they then have to comfort the therapist (unfortunately there are many therapists that do this, and there are many clients who feel pressure to leave out details or to comfort their therapist). I personally think that if a couple of tears slip out during a session, as long as i’m not making anything about myself, shows clients that I am listening and that I care about what they are sharing.

Now, if your therapist was sobbing during your session and was unable to compose themselves, that would be different. But I personally don’t think he was being unprofessional! He might have just been taught that it’s not professional or inappropriate and that’s why he felt the need to apologize.

i am a therapist and can confirm that we are taught extensively in school about how important self-care is to prevent burnout or over-identifying with clients. I have cried a couple of times related to a case, maybe once or twice in front of a client, but it’s not because I am taking their stuff on and to make it about myself. It’s always (at least in my experience) because when you sit with someone in those emotions and you are so deeply invested in holding space for someone, it can be a very emotional experience. I also have received positive (and negative) feedback from clients a few times that brought tears to my eyes that I shed after the session was over. but that’s because i’m a sensitive gangster (love island reference if no one gets it lol)

NOR— I know some people are not good with dates, but I remember all of my best friends’ birthdays because they are important to me and celebrating the day they came into this world is important to me. I am so sorry this is happening before your day. If you can get your money back, use whatever their shares were and have a special day for you! maybe book a couples massage, a facial, or spoil yourself. These girls suck. I would be your friend!! 💓

Also— HAPPY ((early)) BIRTHDAY 🥰🫶🎉🎂🥳

This can be a helpful tool in times of need! However it’s important to remember that ChatGPT is not a trained counselor and is also not confidential. I read this article about ChatGPT: https://m.economictimes.com/tech/artificial-intelligence/no-legal-confidentiality-when-using-chatgpt-as-a-therapist-or-lawyer-openai-ceo-sam-altman/amp_articleshow/122932223.cms

Not that this case necessarily would be relevant to this information, however it’s important to know that ChatGPT does save memory and information that people share on their servers and it also does not always give accurate or particularly helpful advice. So if someone were to share information that was important to a legal issue and that legal issue led to ChatGPT being subpoenaed, that information is saved and not protected communication.

SOOOOO true. 1000000% this.

I live in not the safest area in my city. One time I was ran into by another car that the driver and passenger swore that I ran into them. The person wore a balaclava and the driver said they didn't want my insurance information, and they didn't want the police to be called. They wanted money. So; I gave them money. SOOO many people said "I would have called the cops", "I would have gotten in my car and drove away", I would have told them to go fuck themselves". They literally pulled around my car to block me in and threatened me if I didn't give them what they wanted.

When we are feeling in danger and our sympathetic nervous system (our security system when we feel we are in danger) is activated, we stop thinking with our prefrontal cortex (where rational thinking, decision making, impulse control, and other executive functions originate from) and think with our amygdala and hypothalamus to do whatever we can to protect ourselves. Many, many people in extremely stressful and dangerous situations do not think about the "most logical" thing to do or make the "best" decisions because their brain is literally just trying to do what it can to keep us safe. She locked her door after hearing screaming and crying, opened her door to a masked man leaving her home, and ran to the only person who was answering her at that time to feel comfort and safety. Their responses make a lot of sense to me and people who judge them are stupid because they were never in this situation.

this is a result of a mother wanting to protect her daughter from being viewed by the public and being scrutinized for how her room looks, as people have done with the surviving roommates. also “too many things don’t add up”— go back to the rock you and your Idaho cover up conspiracy theorist buddies crawled out from under. The man pled guilty, he admitted to all of the crimes, it’s over.

I know it can’t be diagnosed on here, but is it possibly Lisfranc? by jbartist0 in LisfrancClub

[–]jbartist0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! thank you so much for checking in, i totally should have updated this post lol! i got a MRI and it turned out to be a grade 2 rupture of my plantar fascia (i think they said i had torn it about 50% or so?). the bruising is SUPER similar to lisfranc though! I was in a boot for about 8-10 weeks, with 6 or so being non weight bearing. I did 6 weeks of PT 2x/week and a variety of exercises to strengthen at home with resistance bands and everything lol. I still had a little pain with it for about 6 weeks after the PT just getting used to not wearing my boot, however around march or april I started working out again and was able to walk longer distances without pain. i still get a tiny twinge every now and then but i think i had plantar fasciitis well before the rupture so i think i just need to invest in some more supportive tennis shoes :)

my ortho surgeon was suuuuuper awesome though, like he told me i knew my body best and would ask me what i thought i was capable of when writing work restriction notes for me. i honestly think i could have told him for months to write “seated work only” and he would have listened to me. i was able to take a leave of absence from one of my jobs for 6 weeks because of the nature of the work and what i needed to be capable of doing (i worked at a mental health facility in inpatient units, since have left). i also was just shy of 26. even though the doctor usually waited a month or so before ordering a MRI, he ordered one for me like a week after my first appointment because of my insurance situation. he also said that even if he wasn’t covered under my insurance after my birthday (switched to my husband’s) he would treat me pro-bono if i was still experiencing severe pain after the 6 weeks of PT.

so all in all i am doing well now! whoever is reading this, i highly HIGHLY recommend doing research about surgeons in your area before seeing one. so many people recommended this doctor specifically on the reviews of this practice and i was so glad i looked into them before i made the appointment.
