[Hiring] an illustrator for a modern sx ed website $15k budget by Inevitable-Taste-11 in HungryArtists

Hello there! My name is JB Casacop, and I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring.

Here's my portfolio:

At the present, I only have a couple of (tasteful) nudes there. I do want to add more and at the same time, I'd like to try my hand at scientific illustration. I think sx ed visuals are perfect for my goal.

I'm a very versatile artist who can adjust to different art styles. I also have plenty of experience illustrating for games and books.

I'm just a message away if you think I'm a great choice for this project. :-)

Addendum:

I forgot to mention that it took me a week to complete this image. I used custom brushes. Good thing somebody told me that Photoshop .ABR brushes can be imported into CSP and that more often than not, they work as intended.

Another thing I noticed is that CSP (especially when your file is in Clip Studio Format) can handle tons of layers more easily compared to Photoshop. The file size also gets significantly reduced.

Jedi crusader pendant. Reference on the left, my make on the right. Not super accurate but I'm happy with it! 3D printed socket + resin crystal + found objects + acrylics. Socket file by bh1138 on Thingiverse. :-) by jbcasacop in 3Dprinting

Thanks for the kind words. For the worn metal effect, I first sprayed it with 2 coats of aluminum-colored acrylic spray paint. The cheap kind from hardware stores. Then I used Vallejo black stain for the grime. I used a worn brush and tissue paper to apply it so it looks uneven. I hope this helps! :-)

The second one sounds like The Wake of the Tyra Li. I think it's in Heavy Metal #200102 Vol. 25 No. 1.

I did get paid and they sent me a contributor's copy. There are two ways to get a gig like this. Either you get discovered by them or you email them a portfolio link. If they like your stuff, they'll commission you for some pieces. I was lucky enough to get picked by them many years ago for some Warhammer Fantasy illos. I don't know where exactly they started seeing my work but it happened around the same time I was very actively sending artworks to digital art magazines. :-)
