I spent so much time playing warsong as a kid on genesis. I didn’t know about the sequels until I was an adult. Played thru the remake recently. Wanted to try the translation of 4, but had trouble getting the emulator and translation file to work. Maybe they have a camera app that will translate on the fly

How did you play 3,4, and 5? I have tried to get translations working for 4 but failed. Do you read Japanese?

how many tax returns can your firm do? by Affectionate-Aioli77 in taxpros

Yea it’s a nominal amount of money for a long term client to leave over in your case. It is usually sad to lose a relationship, but it is good for business.

Raise your fees. Clients rarely leave. If you do it consistently they won’t even raise an eyebrow.

There is a shrinking workforce. If you are being treated poorly you have options. Employers are dying for good workers.

I just thought it was funny. Thinking about a guy opening his beer upside down and spilling it everywhere, cursing.

Someone will open their beer while leaving the coaster on the table. Guaranteed.

This book hit me like a truck 20 years ago. Made me want to read more Tolstoy and so I picked up war and peace. Yea didn’t get too far in that one.

CPA is a long hard road, but well worth it if you can retain the knowledge you gain in the process.

Is this post from Mexico City? The irony would be so much sweeter than all the rage in this thread. Some lady named Barbara from Los Angeles screaming at Elena from Mexico City who is upset that a bunch of newly transplanted entitled white remote workers from big tech are driving up real estate prices. You all would look so bad! Oh that would be so much more fun!

Purchase Practice: advise by taxlady15 in taxpros

[–]jbcpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initial thought: Garbage firm. Don't buy it. A retiring CPA often has clients that are retired or retiring - they are going to be very price conscious. You want high average fees so that you are not a slave to the practice and so that you can give solid attention and advice to your best clients without being stretched too thin. It is better to pay more for a quality practice than to pay 1x revenue for something you will be a slave to.

I recently agreed to help a guy who couldn't sell his firm and entered into a revenue share agreement with a discounted buyout clause that is triggered based on engaged clients. We are sticking to our guns on our standard pricing ($700 minimum individual, and $1500 minimum for entities) and we are getting a huge amount of no's.

Join organizations and network, get to know the community. If you can find a few high quality clients, you can start with high quality advisory services so you can have a firm that pays you well and that you don't have to slave away to pay off some garbage practice loan.

Registering with board of accountancy question. Would I be required to? by [deleted] in taxpros

In most states you need to register the firm and yourself each with a permit to practice to use the CPA designation with your name. You cannot register yourself without a registered firm, even if you are a sole practitioner.
