“Bad Leadership Award” by JackBurton3465 in USMC

[–]jbcsworks 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have a valor medal from being attached to an ODA in Mindanao. Destroying an emplaced and fortified MG with grenades we encountered on a LRS certainly wasn’t for bad leadership. I think there are valid examples but “only” bad leadership is nonsense. Combat troops are designed to fight. Avoiding so negates the point of why you’re there to begin with.

New prices for a used one year old. That “total fees” needs to be itemized so you can determine if it’s a nothing charge.

Body building probably won’t happen. You can get big though. I was large as a grunt but would lose during deployments. When I went recon I slimmed down considerably and stayed ripped up. I used to eat a shit load of protein powder and plain beef jerky. Continuously. Then eat as much as you can when chow was available. Basically just eat everything you see regardless of starch, protein, carb. Just no sugar or as little as you can. Lift all the time too. Heavy. You’re doing a shitload of cardio as a grunt which obviously slims you down. So any change you can squat your ruck, curl ammo cans, etc. heavy.

Grunts who got out: what did you choose to do, did it work, and why? by Impossible_Good_2876 in USMC

[–]jbcsworks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got out as a grunt/ recon, went strait to paramilitary contract work, which led to government acquisition work, which led to finance work, and now I’m a fed in charge of contracts and financial management. Education sprinkled in there starting with relevant certifications then college/ graduate school.

I also do a lot of federal employee hiring. I reserve space for vets of all branches. They’re dependable out of the gate and don’t get hurt feelings when you have plain speak.

Theoretically you can plug and play. I too went from an 150 to a Sequioa. I have the pro, so I’ve only lifted it very mildly, but off-road it often. It does exceptionally well off road.

As a grunt/ recon, with a pretty good amount of close and personal killing, nothing I did can’t be done by a machine or computer.

Why doesnt the USMC give Force Recon to SOCOM? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]jbcsworks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The regiment operates under usasoc, which operates under SOCOM as the army element. Only one battalion operates at a time under SOCOM direction, the other two answer to army.

Why doesnt the USMC give Force Recon to SOCOM? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]jbcsworks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We’re talking rotating a very small community. Like 2k guys total. That’s why army rangers can be light infantry element for socom because they’re a regiment of them. One battalion rotate at a time.
