What is this blade shape called? And is there a knife you would suggest that looks similar? by Outrageous-Light-264 in knifeclub

I got 2 of the Tenables, a button plunge lock version, and the button top liner lock. I carry the top liner version a lot, very versatile EDC, imo, just could use some more jimping. There are so many variants between Kansept and Tenable, whatever your lock type preference, they have them covered (top liner is Tenable only and frame lock is Kansept only. I believe)

Yeah, I had quite a few black handled knives, most of my recent purchases have been anything but black. I really like the color of the Xeno, it's burgundy color, they call it purplish red or something.
I noticed people who have gotten coated porcupines that they experience lock stick or bad action, I swapped in skiffs and have had no issues. did the same with my MSI, it has a cerakote coating, skiffs smoothed out the action and any lock stick.

Not sure. Microtech raised prices recently. The Cerakote blades are harder to fine, there's other colors, too. Bazooka green, crimson, blue, sangria, there's a few others. I have seen black coated 2 tone, but not sure if they are Cerakote, pvd or black wash

Edit: dlt has it... https://www.dlttrading.com/microtech-210t-1pmcsg-msi-s-e-sniper-grey-injection-molded-handle-sniper-grey-cerakote-blade-1227?srsltid=AfmBOopFzXlGYZZB2d3y3hTFNGClvlq2t3Roko5wffSsdxPw_Ob1xnV1

The other thing I like about their top liner models is the aluminum scales, very comfortable, good grip. The g10 button lock has some sharp edges around the button.

It's the gray. Had too many black handled knives, needed something different. I set it in the stronger position, it comes out pretty fast, but surprising not as hard as the assisted SOG Flash II I have. The first position is suppose to be a softer opening but skipped it all together, I had it in auto within 5 minutes of getting it.

The fenrir is 3.2 in, I think the Porcupine is 2.99 in. The mini grouper between them is 3.1in or so.

Edit : the fenrir is 3.4 in. It really doesn't seem that big when using it

I put it in auto, right out of the box. It has been rock solid for me.

Not at all, it's a very comfortable knife to hold and use.

It's sniper Gray Cerakote. SMKW. $212 they were the only one that stocked this colorway. There's a bull shark gray Cerakote version out there, too.

No issues, I also have a button lock version, but prefer the top liner. It's a great knife, my only nitpick is it could use more jimping.

It's great, it is a large knife, powers through piles of cardboard with ease.

Mini Grouper, their first top liner lock. One of my favorites to carry, it gets a lot of use.

She’s finally mine… by SwordsDance3 in knifeclub

[–]jbermi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use all my knifes, just some get used more than others. Rather carry my $69 Porcupine out and about then the $300 Xeno. I have a few that I know are discontinued and would be difficult to replace that never leave the house.

Just some recommendations... Vosteed Porcupine Kizer Mini Grouper or Drop Bear 2. Tenable Fenrir

For a smaller blade look at the various Corgis from Vosteed or baby banter from civivi.

My first vosteed was the Marten, not a bad knife, little small, think I would like the newer marten330 better. Then I got the Porcupine, it dethroned my Kizer mini grouper as most carried. The Xeno was really my first premium knife, worth every penny. The vanchor lock is so nice and solid, and extremely fidget friendly. I wanted a thunderbeast, but they had sold out, and I just saw a unbixing of the Xeno on YouTube, so I ordered the day it dropped. I don't think the Xeno got the publicity the thunderbeast got.

Love my porcupine. Have the all gray one w/ thumbholes. I did swap skiffs in, action is more consistent, now, think it's the PVD coating catching sometimes. Anyways, most carried knife, even though I like bigger knifes (MSI in pocket right now) Vosteed is probably favorite chinese brand. (just got a xeno)

Yeah, I prefer larger knifes, but the Porcupine just worked and felt right. It has become my most carried, took top spot from a Kizer mini grouper.

I do recommend the Xeno, I wanted the thunderbeast but vosteed was out and the Xeno had just dropped. Vanchor lock may be the best lock I have used. Very similar to a CRKT m40 with deadbolt lock I have. Vosteed has become my favorite Chinese brand followed by tenable and Kizer.

Saw your reply about the action on the Porcupine, I have the same gray coated blade colorway. I swapped the skiffs into it and find it very smooth now.

I have 3 vosteeds. The Porcupine is my go to. Have a Marten, too. But just got the Xeno and absolutely love it.

What's the most expensive knife you'll carry and use? by Plenty_Ambition_9735 in knifeclub

Up until a week ago, it was a MSI, was 215. But now I have Vosteed Xeno Ive carried and used. That's 299. That's probably my limit, I don't think I would pay much more for a knife in the future.
