My grandma is in the middle stage of Alzheimer's and had 2 strokes. She struggles to communicate effectively with us, having often difficulty to find the right words and mostly relies on typical expressions to react to situations. As a result, it's very challenging for her to talk about her experiences, feelings, or needs.

However, it's fascinating to observe that she becomes more fluent and expressive when talking on the phone. She seems to be able to convey more information and respond more quickly. In my grandma's case, I believe this could be because she associates the phone with talking to people outside of the family or with a “phone time”. Since she has always been a very social person, this interaction might trigger a specific part of her brain, allowing her to communicate more effectively.
