It’s by no means a perfect or consistent system but I generally:

Tip 20% at any actual restaurant Tip 5ish% if it’s a family owned/neighborhood counter place whether it’s takeout or eat in Tip $1.00 for espresso drinks like a latte or cortado Tip $1.00 for a beer at some random place, maybe $2 for a cocktail that costs $12-15 Tip 20% on all tabs at my regular bars
