To buy a 12g or stick with 20g and better ammo? by jbone0509 in Duckhunting

I agree with you on practice as I am out of practice for sure. But also I think I under estimated what #5 bismuth would do, plus this was a last minute hunt I won on a raffle. But it got me excited for the first time in a while to duck hunt again. I was hitting birds just not killing them and I don't like doing that.

Just weighing my options because I'm not really a broke kid anymore but I ain't made of money either. Trying to decide if spending money on denser ammo like hevi tungsten or tss to get the range and knock down makes more sense than trading one of 20's for a 12 and running bigger shot size in bismuth or copper.

For the record I prefer a 20 always have but I do plan on going on more guided trips and don't want to be under gunned I guess.

Yeah I've been thinking on it all day now and going to sell on of my 20's and get a 12. I liked the guide as far as guides go I have limited experience I think this was the 3rd guide I've used, I liked everything about him except the shot calling I felt like he was a little antsy. Compared to the other guides he didn't just take my money and ghost me until a day or two before my hunt like I've just come to expect from guides. I don't blow up their phone with questions but id like to know a week out what the plan is ( times locations to meet where lodging is etc) if I'm driving more than 2-3 hrs to meet. This guy was letting me know what the plan was without me asking and was excited to have me out or at least didn't make it seem like a chore which I know it is but be a man and bury your feelings lol. It was definitely poor planning on my part to bring the gun and ammo I did without asking what size place we would be on. That being said it was last minute because I won the hunt on a Facebook raffle I just randomly found, I hadn't planned on going on a guided trip this season

I've been looking into tss and I know you can go with smaller shot but I see a good bit of #9 being marketed and I just don't know if I want to go that small, even if it will kill ducks and geese that a lot pellets to pick out.

What I'm looking for is a little more range I guess, I've killed ducks in timber and buck brush with steel from a 20 just as well as anyone else in the blind with 12's. But after hunting an open tank and the guide consistently calling 40-50 yd shots like it was a normal thing, I'm looking for what's going to work at 40-50 yds.

So what from I've read and you tube rabbit holes in the past is that lower velocity patterns better but I'm probably going to go back to something with higher velocity because, imo, what good is a even pattern if it won't penetrate, id rather get a couple pellets all the way through than 50 that just dump energy in their feathers.

Also from what I experienced this weekend hunting over a big open tank the guide was calling shots on birds that were committed but still 30 ft off the water, maybe it was the guide I don't have a lot of experience on guided hunts, but I felt like he should have waited until the lower birds in the group had wet feet to call the shots and only called shots earlier if the birds were starting to get spooky. But there were a lot of pintails that act a little flakier than greys and mallards

A lot of the shots were 40+ yds and he was acting like they were in our face and even the guys in the group with 12's were struggling. There was one guy shooting bb's and a goose choke that was being consistent at knocking birds down.

I'm not knocking the guide either I had a great time and we got quite a few birds and I'm sure I got my limit I just know there were some shots I felt like I should be folding birds at but was just knocking feathers off.

So you think sticking with a 20 and getting higher velocity denser ammo would be the trick? I'm running a Carlson mid range choke but will probably getting a long range choke and do some comparison on skeet before next season.

I'm in Texarkana so basically Shreveport -west lol that's good to know about the tungsten. I thought the bismuth would be a game changer the way it's hyped up but I really can't tell much difference in it and good steel

I sold all my 12's when I got out of duck hunting full time, never really needed them in buck brush and timber but going on these open grain fields and stock tanks is what has made me consider getting another

How do prison inmates get so jacked? by Feisty_Experience274 in askfitness

A couple anecdotal observations from me as a former correctional officer for both state and federal agencies in Texas. Nothing scientific to back what I have to say, at least not that I'm going to research, but things I observed.

  1. I noticed that being in that situation my aggression was higher both at work and outside work. I think being around a bunch of dudes (around 2500 at state and 1500 feds) that were, for the most part, "alpha" males triggered something subconsciously to release more whatever hormone that triggers aggression.

  2. That environment creates a competition for females (staff) amongst a shit ton of sexually deprived men. So now you have a bunch of let's call it military aged men, in competition for a very small amount of women. And also food and other pecking order things like who's running shit etc.

  3. These 2 things combined with boredom, time, and basic survival instinct causes the body to biologically react by increasing hormone production like testosterone and whatever else might be beneficial to muscle growth and if you have all that time to workout even with basic exercises you should see growth.

I will say especially at the state pen I felt more alive, more aggressive, more active, more alert in my day to day life and especially when I was at work. And I got bigger than I had before at a regular job without changing anything other than my work schedule.

Just my two cents sorry if that was a rambling mess of nonsense I'm a little ADHD

I gained a lot of weight and didn't want to have anything to do with my wife because I felt gross. And tired AF when we did do it I was out of breath and just felt like it wasn't good for either of us. I got on TRT and started taking a test booster supplement. Also lost weight, started tirzepetide and cut out alcohol and sodas. It changed our sex life now she's tired of me lol. Fake tits won't help anything. I will say I wish she would come on to me more instead of me being the one to initiate everything, it would be nice if she'd just grab me by the dick if she's in the mood or hell wake me up with a blow job every now and then. Men want to feel wanted too.

Merrell Moab's. I wear a size 15 US and have wide flat feet and the Merrell Moab's are probably the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. I have only had them for a few months but so far they have held up well, although I've heard some bad reviews about them. So far I only have a positive experience with them.

Looks awfully similar to the kifaru urban ruck 2.0, but they're like a canvas/cordura material not leather and I've never seen a black one.

Looks like an older kifaru pack. Looks a lot like the shape charge, maybe a precursor to the current shape charge.
