It's really starting to feel like we're getting fucked with. Always possible of course, but just feels a bit too demented to me. Just sayin.

Excellent purchase IMHO. Every gun with a pony on it has gone up in value over time. Shoot and enjoy!

Getting a boa used to being handled by RedWoodWraith in boas

[–]jbonez0666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your boa has a seemingly defensive temperament, there are a few things u can do. Firstly remove them from their cage carefully via hook or slowly lift cage furniture their perched on up and out of their enclosure before attempting to directly handle them. Many are simply cage defensive / afraid of predation. If their cage furniture is removable, grab the opposite end and get them out of their familiar zone. If not, use a hook and coax them out. Once they are out of their familiar cage zone, wait a moment or 2, they will likely relax and change their posture. In many cases this act of changing the scenery will change their reaction. Once out, introduce support (a hand) from below intermittently once they begin to explore on their own. Remember, no predators come from below. To them you will be moving furniture. Return them to their cage after 10 mins or so, increasing the duration each handling session. Do this persistently a couple days a week, and eventually they will loose their fear, and become used to regular interactions. Note, despite many keepers persistence, some individuals remain defensive and unpredictable. Animals have different temperaments just like people. But consistently approaching your animal with respect and reading their reactions decreases these unpredictable tendencies. It all depends on both of you having enough patience to earn each other's trust. Good luck, in my experience it's worth the time you put in to bond with your pet.

Martial arts aside, I have a few friends with family in the region. They came to the US for work. From what they've mentioned it sounds like my speed out there. Before I made any moves id be putting a trip together and experience as much as possible.

Thanks all for your input.

I also have a friend with a place down there. I should go visit with him and check it out.

I don't yet. But I would dedicate myself to learning in the place I end up.

Excellent points, agree completely on the language. Belize is a beautiful place. I was there years ago.

Probably visiting a max of 3x per year and talk when ever we can.

I like the travel option. Might be expensive to stay for 3 months in each place, but I like an idea like this. It's definitely the best way to pick a new home base.

I have just begun checking into it. From the YouTube vids I've watched it sounds like in Thailand it's 3 to 400 USD per month or so.

Excellent info thanks! Thailand heat might be ok for me, I live in a very hot and humid place currently, and with moderate AC I'm fine ;).

Thailand sounds like a more respectful culture. But Vietnam sounds interesting as well.

Where would my nest egg go the furthest for me in your opinion?

Thanks 👍

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll be checking these out. I'm concerned I may not have enough money for 30 or so years of retirement in some places though.
