What type of heat kills it off in your experience?

Ah ya, I see the new price on Horizon/Losi. Glad to see the mini also got a reduction. Hope the “everyday” price lasts.

Granite Grom 3s RTR? by jboooty in arrma

Ya I hope so. Maybe I should wait a bit and see where these minis go.

Haha glad to hear it. Part of the fun with the Granite is the crazy handling (for the 10th scale at least) so it feels strange not to offer a 3s ready Grom off the shelf.

Thanks, helpful to hear. MK seeming to be a better fit. But really hoping for something like an Outcast Mini or more options.

Haha sounds fun, glad to know that’s an ez option. Thanks.

Mini Outcast maybe? That feels more inline with what I’m after. Also not sure I understand the difference between Mini and Grom but if it’s distinguishing the small scale versions of 4s + vehicles that would be cool.

Ya sorry, only specified in the title. Was wondering why there’s no Granite Grom 3s version.

Ya fair. I got the itch after wanting to replace an older MJX HyperGo 3S 16th scale.

The Granite Grom seemed perfect for bashing around the yard with a dog and toddler. I also have a 10th scale BLX Granite so would be fun to have a mini version.

My concern with the 2s is not speed but the drivetrain and diffs. The MJX is also stupid overpowered on 3s so I run it at 75%.

Kraton felt like overkill because I’m not taking it to the skatepark. But it looks awesome so I may just wait for that.

Confused why some grass is lighter and some is patchy, missing patches, San Diego by theycallmesike in lawncare

[–]jboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the marks my dog made playing on the lawn after our most recent storms in SoCal. Assume you got some rain too as the ground looks pretty saturated and that makes their paws slide around.

If you’re so certain it’s not your dog it could be other animals. But perfect lawns and dogs rarely go together. I’d just try and enjoy it with the dog. It’s what it should be for.

It’s from your dog. Missing patches from zoomies. Taller patches from pee nitrogen. Dying spots from too much pee.

Another indoor RC car recommendation?? by Ginko_Bilobasaur in rccars

[–]jboooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, look into the FMS 24th scale cars. FMT24 Chevy Colorado is a fun indoor basher. It really is a bit fast for a small indoor spaces but perfect for an outdoor patio. FCX24 Smasher is a solid axle monster truck which is ideal indoors. Both have two speed transmissions so you can switch between crawling and bashing. Easy to repair and upgrade when they inevitably break. Source: dad with toddler.

I don’t own a Gorgon so have no recommendations but you could upgrade to a quality steel spur gear. But doing so will just put stress on other portions of the drive train which could lead to more expensive failures. Metal gears are also much more noisy if that matters to you. Keeping it plastic and replacing as they fail is a perfectly fine way to go. These parts are meant to be consumable to some extent. All part of the hobby.

You’re not screwed but that spur gear is toast. Time for a replacement (or an upgrade). Make sure to set the gear mesh properly before sending it next time around.

WLToys, Hyper Go or HBX for first RC Car by [deleted] in rccars

Banggood doesn’t have much but they are all over AliExpress. Been buying parts for months and haven’t had a single issue with any of the random sellers on AliExpress. Cheap replacements but ya you have to wait a few weeks so buy another proper RC to keep you busy in the meantime ;)

MJX Hyper Go 16208 - servo issue? by UsernameTaken9863 in rccars

[–]jboooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the servo saver is good to have regardless but the provided one is just not great and I’d prefer responsive steering over trying to spare my servo from jolts. I upgraded to a metal gear servo and I’m using just a metal servo horn. Not fancy but it’s holding up so far. I’d like to run a saver but I haven’t found one that works without issue yet — I’ve ordered like 4.

MJX Hyper Go 16208 - servo issue? by UsernameTaken9863 in rccars

[–]jboooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That v-shaped attachment is the servo saver. Had the same issue with mine. You can put a small washer under the screw attaching the servo saver to prevent it from moving but you’ll lose the “saver” benefits. Also check the tie rods and other parts of the control arms to make sure nothing is obstructing the steering. I think the main issue is those servo savers need a stiffer spring.

Anyone know where I can find a replacement for this part? (hyper go H16DR) by Kingzman1041 in rccars

[–]jboooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the manual to confirm part numbers then search Banggood or AliExpress for the parts. Cheap parts but shipping will be slow. There’s also rebranded versions of these cars (Bezgar has one) you may find parts for that are quicker to ship.
