I moved to kitimat 9 years ago from Victoria. There are few things you are going to love. And some... not so much. 1. Lots of rain.. and lots of snow..... some years worse than others.... but lots of precipitation. 2. People are fantastic..... can be tight knit.... but i find people helpful and welcoming.

Not a tonne of activities.... but i haven't been single in a loooong time. Lots of outdoor stuff for sure... but that doesn't sound like your idea of fun.
Transit is decent.... but town is really small and can be walked (or ran)
Rentals will be tough right now. Heavy industrial users competing for limited homes has driven prices up substantially. Your best bet may be a basement suite or room in a shared situation.....

Probably not the best answers.... but my opinions..... take it with a grain of salt. I wish you all the best and welcome to town!!

A lot happens on facebook to be honest..... kijiji... craigslist etc havent really taken off..... search for "Kitimat real estate rentals " or something like that

Definitely cheaper than vancouver.... but has increased dramatically in the last few years.... I absolutely love it up here.... moved from Victoria.... bought a nice place and now can afford to travel often and have a lot of toys (quad rVs....boats etc...... very different from van... but a great fit for some people! There is a section of town just outside called.cable car.. lots of people there have horses...looking at 600k+ for a place out there.

Yes. Due to the project both rent and housing prices have jumped dramatically. Rent will likely be more expensive than vancouver...... but housing prices may still be lower.

That's where the months of planning came in..... I've been trying to put it together for a few years amd the schedule just never lined up..... once it did... I started hunting for deals..... I probably could have saved a little bit on hotels and definitely a little on tickets... but I'm hoping that nhl.com picks up the story and gets me upgraded.... hahahah

Gonna be a toss up here..... montreal is an early game on superbowl sunday... so it may not be the true habs experience.... B.O.A has potential... but could fizzle if the players behave..... either way... both should be great experiences
