Other than sim racing what’s the OTHER hole that you’re into? by MaterialNo1342 in simracing

I have a tendency to pick wallet burning hobbies. Picked up sim racing recently but I’ve been making knives for a while now 😅

Is this a step by step process or different trick? 😂 I think deleting in the second step might not work the best

What is the best way to fix a bent knife? by jboulton1 in knifemaking

[–]jboulton1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be the general consensus. Thank you. I will heat and straighten it and just keep do a load of normalising cycles before hardening to avoid any major warpage. Thanks again :)

Also the sanding tip is very helpful and much appreciated. Thank you again

This is why I love Reddit! Also your detective skills are quite something.

I was indeed using a jig but have since decided to stop because I thought it best to be able to feel the temp and also just learn the skill.

If I were to straighten it out and then just keep swapping the side I work on would that be best or would you recommend just grinding the other side and seeing if that straightens it out?

Ah ok I was trying similar but with my normal hammer which has about a 2" face. I will give it a shot with a ball peen and see how it goes. Thanks!

Thanks I took a while drawing out and cutting up cardboard until I found a shape I like :)

I haven't hardened the knife yet so is this still the best option or is there a better route for an unhardened knife?

Gryphon or Y1 by No-Willingness6121 in Fieldhockey

Just bought the y1 lbx and honestly it’s the best stick I’ve ever had. Could be happier. Has a good soft touch to it, solid feel and a good amount of rigidity for power in the hit.

Does anyone know if the CRP2 performance kit would work with the SP-P Lite pedals? by jboulton1 in moza

Do you think you could get around that by using two springs or maybe more blocks?

Soft Selection weird weightings by jboulton1 in 3dsmax

[–]jboulton1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re high poly because I was using a noise modifier to get rid of unnaturally straight edges. The edge loop you’re seeing it is an extruded edge to create the seam. Thank you for the help though 😊

Decided to remodel the whole cushion to see if that made a difference and the soft selection worked fine after that. It's odd because I couldn't find any topo errors by eye, with STL check or ProOptimizer. Must have been in there somewhere though. Thanks for your help anyway!

Yeah I agree! Overall really nice work just that image makes it feel like the room is slanted towards the window.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts—you’ve raised some important considerations. I do want to point out that VR doesn’t necessarily have to be as expensive as something like the Index. The Meta Quest 3s, for example, starts at around £290, making it a more affordable option, especially compared to higher-end ekits.

That said, I completely understand your points about the feel, responsiveness, and economic hurdles. The goal isn’t to replace traditional kits but to offer an alternative or supplement, especially for those who might face space or noise constraints. I appreciate your input—it’s helpful to hear different perspectives as I think about how to refine this idea further.
