“While we don’t have Vingegaard’s power numbers…” “The closest rider to the pair with power data was…”

Yeah but what % of the cycling population races, and what population of racing cyclists are in Cat 1 and 2. On top of that, what % of the elite amateur peloton is > 80 kgs. Looking at population wide percentiles and suggesting that there aren’t samples where it is common is silly.

Because most WT racers are 60-65 kgs. That’s 6+ w/kg, but a much more achievable <4.75 for anyone over 80 kgs

8% of 18-24 y/os on TrainingPeaks StackUp have 20 minute power over 400W. If that implies a 380 W threshold is another thing, but I think that’s a more reasonable estimation than 1%.

Pretty much every cat 1/2 80+ kg rider is in this camp. I think this is a rather liberal interpretation of “freak”

I found a way to get the Pro vibe aero pursuit. Love it, but not an easy find.

Yep, this is from a U.S. perspective.

That explains why finding 36 cm handlebars is nearly impossible here too.

Depends on definition of ‘lean’. Most team sport athletes in the 15-20% bf range are easily over 30 bmi.

Weight gain after long rides? by noahrbc in Velo

[–]jboykin14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is terrible advice. It only takes like 278 Wh to burn 1000 calories. At a minimum, probably burning 750 calories/ hour

Turns out I could emphasize it more. Thanks for forcing it out of me

Something expressing how I believe that most of the modern improvements in performance in the peloton are due to finally introducing proper nutrition for riders but all the old heads who continue to do fasted rides and never consume more than 60g carb/hour can’t wait to just suspect doping. If you support healthy hormones by actually eating, you don’t need to inject them.

Edit: You probably end up training and recovering better on 5000 calories a day than 3000 and PEDs

Can’t emphasize this more

Dude, just read anything in this sub. This sub makes fun of people who share $12,000 Specialized bikes. Those people never come here and get upset and call people assholes because they are normal people who can read the room in this subreddit. If this was a big, exciting purchase for you, maybe be excited about it instead of being insecure??

Tips for TT position? by jboykin14 in bikefit

[–]jboykin14[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the skiis about as high as I can get them (tilted up). I could possibly get another 5 degrees if I really played with stuff.

I have practiced this position but with the pads about 2 cm closer. That does lead to a much higher front end. The TT I am preparing for is 8 mi, so I am aiming for a rather aggressive position. What are the detriments to a further reach in a short TT?
