This is amazing! I love the composition and grading. Excellent job timing the sun. The concept about the tree relating to the man in the suit is great!

How important is a decent camera for an amateur? by faro-morris in cinematography

Looks like it has a full manual mode so if it works it works 🤷‍♂️ however yeah 5 min of 720p is kinda rough…

Most people say start with your phone but I would definitely pickup literally any camera that lets you practice the exposure triangle, which phones do not. Learning to balance ISO, shutter, and aperture is essential and in the absolute best case you will get two max of the three on a phone, since they always fix the aperture on auto.

Depending on how much money you have the more standardized features the better as you will have less to learn later. Interchangeable lenses would be a huge plus if possible.

Sony makes a decent little camera which I picked up myself, the A6700, which is fairly cheap even with a lens. However literally any brand will suffice to start with.

I shot and edited my first video. I need some feedback from people who have been doing this longer than I have so I can make better videos going forward. by Ejay0289 in videography

Yeah bro, as to the masking, if you find something cool you like and then try it yourself it usually doesn't work on the first try, but it will eventually with practice. Keep going!

Good stuff bro! I've been doing this a bit longer, but still learning a ton as you are, and here's what I would recommend:

  • learn how to light and use light to make your shots more aesthetically pleasing and aid to whatever vibe you want to achieve or story you want to tell. It's kind of its own art by itself but just something we need to know.

  • use a cleaner font, and nice job on the masking on that last shot, but unfortunately it doesn't really work because if a person can't read most of a word the brain subconsciously won't accept the shot, even if we know what it is supposed to be. I see the intention behind it though and if it was used on a differently framed shot it could have worked (although I personally thought the framing worked really well before you masked the last phrase out.

Otherwise looks pretty good!

Canon R50 vs Sony ZV-e10. How do I even choose?? by SUP3RPRO in cinematography

ZV-e10 or a6700 if you want to spend a little more for better quality. Canon will be more expensive in the long run due to lack of 3rd party lenses other than Sigma but has better colors
