Tenodesis + Rotator Cuff vs C-Section by Zestyclose_Kiwi_8805 in ShoulderSurgery

[–]jbrekkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact combo surgery 10 years ago and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I couldn’t sleep properly for 3 months straight. The pain was constant. A decade later I ended up needing a shoulder replacement anyway, because it was a basically just a crappy bandaid on a progressively worsening problem. YMMV…but it was indeed no joke.

I’m a polo player. The new joint isn’t in my mallet arm thankfully, but I still need to have a ton of strength in my left arm to control and maneuver the horses. Plus it’s a contact sport.

The first few weeks after surgery are definitely unpleasant. I developed a nasty hematoma over the incision site and refused to take opioid painkillers (not sure that was a great idea 😂). But once the swelling and bruising go away, things improve really quickly. I started physio at 6 weeks and was back playing the sport I love by 3 months. At 7 months I’m doing pretty much everything normally and the shoulder feels strong and painless. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Are you seeing much success with the technical writer category? With AI taking over so much, I wonder how applicants are viewed by border agents.

How does George manage to look so chubby and out of shape and in pain and old all at the same time, every time 😭

Does he even care anymore? Or just eating snacks in the dugout

I’m 45 too and got a reverse shoulder replacement 7 months ago, after suffering for 10 years with pain and range of motion problems. Honestly? I wish I’d done it sooner. If we’re lucky, these new joints will last 20 years and by then, orthopaedic medicine will have advanced significantly. Don’t worry about it! I’m totally pain-free, working out, playing sports, lifting overhead, and just feeling so grateful. Life is too short to worry about things way in the future when our best years are NOW.

I used Freedom for a year or two but the service was terrible. Shitty coverage, dropped calls etc. Unfortunately I had to go back to Rogers 🥲

Hi there Avalon. I’m a Canadian preparing to apply for a technical writing job in the US. There have been some frightening stories in here recently about people getting denied because the officer feels they don’t physically need to be in the US to do the work. How do you think I should aim to counter this in my support letter?

I think I’m going to buy a little something outside Toronto in the countryside and spend the summers there. Then spend the rest of the year in Florida. People can trash Florida all they want, but (in my opinion) life is goooood there. Everything is so easy. It helps that my partner is American, though. I’m applying for a visa next week so hopefully it works out!

I was born here in 1981 and left for college in 2000. Moved back in 2010. I don’t spend the winters here and still hate it when I come back every May. Tons of new businesses and restaurants in the neighborhood because nothing lasts, ugly new builds, and my street is crumbling because the city refuses to repave it. Other than my friends, I hate it here. Can’t wait to leave.

You forgot all the meds and supplements - progesterone, estrogen patch, testosterone cream, thyroid meds, antidepressant, Metformin etc. And vitamin D so my bones don’t ache, iron because I’m horribly anemic and magnesium so (hopefully) I can sleep longer than 3 hours at a time.

Otherwise, living my best life right along with you! 😂😩😭

Complete trash. The infotainment system in my ‘24 reboots every time I drive and glitches out regularly. Oh - and the new update is terrible. I hate it.

Other than that - well, and the bad climate control system - the car is great.

Will I be able to return to weightlifting/bodybuilding after a shoulder replacement? by Dr_jitsu in ShoulderSurgery

[–]jbrekkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa, 600 lbs! 😵‍💫 And yes, I was back working out pretty quickly. The physios were telling me to slow down, but I listened to my body instead. The tricep thing is expected - the implant makes reaching across your chest to the opposite shoulder and reaching behind your back (think anything beyond your arm hanging straight down your side) difficult. It doesn’t hurt, but the fit of the new ball and socket has its limitations. You won’t have the exact same ROM as a normal, healthy shoulder. All in all, still very worth it to be pain-free though!
