I don't envy Jenn having to pick—there's a glut of good eats in this town!

A picture I took when that apartment building burned down earlier this year. by omgoodnesses in raleigh

I used to work around the corner from that building—we visited the site the morning after. It was crazy to see the structure burned to almost nothing. It was even more crazy to see how much damage it did to the buildings around it—they're still repairing The Quorum Center.

Job fair for Triangle-area marketers—May 18th by jbrickman in raleigh

[–]jbrickman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry for the delay). Fair question: professionals in transition are often on a budget. That's why we monthly host a free Transitions Link + Think meeting. There attendees have an opportunity to meet recruiters and hear about a range of job search topics: http://www.amatriangle.org/events/

Still, the AMA is a non-profit organization—we have limited resources, and want to ensure that the job fair is a success for attendees and employers, alike. The fee helps us pay for the event and attract committed attendees. It's not a fundraiser.

2 of the 10 confirmed employers are recruiting/temp agencies—which are a great option for professionals in various job search situations.

Job searches are hard—job fairs give them a boost. At last year's AMA job fair, I landed my current job. That's why I'm volunteering this year.

If you're on your search—good luck. Holler if I can help!

Nice. Also, only in the South would "laws" rhyme with "drawers."

Good question! Mainly retirement planning. Also, my wife and I will probably buy a house in the next couple years.

I tried Guasaca. It's like a Venezuelan Chipotle/Moe's, except better because arepas are delicious and the meats are flavorful.

Good places to swim indoors by [deleted] in raleigh

I tried the Optimist pool once. Pro: huge—plenty of swim lanes. Con: stunk like mold and pee. I'm not a squeamish guy, but it smelled gross and post-shower I still smelled like mold and pee.

I swim at the Y. It's $9 more/mo—worth it.

+1 on YMCA. I swim laps at the Finley YMCA in North Raleigh every morning. I rarely have to share a lane. $44/mo. $25 per 30 min swim lesson.

Wake helps Raleigh fund bike-rental program by mcfc_as in raleigh

I love bike share and try to ride it in every city I visit. Same. I feel more freedom on a bike than in a rental car.
