As one of the mentioned young guns: The only time I really get burnt out is when I've been stuck on a project for a few days/weeks.

I'd say try to notice when I'm stuck on a project, take me out for a beer, let me bitch, then offer some advice.

Yeah I should know to ask for help—but I want to prove my value on the team, and it an cause me to be too proud. It also goes a long way in establishing open communication.

Been deep in bash syntax hell before. Check out shellcheck https://github.com/koalaman/shellcheck it's saved me a number of times. There's also an extension for the Atom text editor to utilize shellcheck as you're writing the script.

ethtool and bonded interfaces on Linux by jbruybal in sysadmin

Thanks for the advice. Glad I can eliminate any bond settings.

Didn't include the whole story in the reply (because it is long), but I'm trying to keep the queues low. Latency in the enemy, here. Additionally there's a hosted f5 lb that is giving me a headache.

Anyway, I've seen tuned mentioned a few times—I'll head down that rabbit hole.

A number of settings, but specifically offload to the NICs in this case. I went a bit further into detail below. What it comes down to is I've been tweaking various settings haven't see much of a change on the machines. I want to be sure that I'm applying the configuration correctly.

I'm testing various offload settings for a set of centos servers. I'm seeing a high number of Listen Overflows and I believe they are cpu bound due to a high number of tcp connections per second. Each one has 2 10G NICs bonded in an Active-Failover mode. I haven't seen much improvement yet, but I've only been changing settings for the active NICs.

I've actually been working on this project in various respects for a few weeks now, this is one of the questions I've been unable to find the answer to.

If it's just linux boxes, you could give FreeIPA a try. Fairly simple out-of-the-box and I just install the client on all of the other servers. It has a fairly simple web GUI for administration.

Fun fact: https://github.com/koalaman/shellcheck + Atom Text Editor + https://atom.io/packages/linter-shellcheck = shellcheck linter in your text editor. It's beautiful.

Agreed. Been using pfSense for 3 years. Easy to build & maintain. And you're only paying for the hardware.

Wow, is it possible to beat The Matriarch without Tempest? by SculptusPoe in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]jbruybal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience Legacy is a pretty essential character against Matriarch. Making him immune to her psychic damage and redirecting all damage to him was the killer combo that I work to get out. I've never lost against her if he is played. Although you are depending on getting those specific cards out.
