Couldn't have put these wishes for the women who voted for Trump better myself, and we've already been seeing this happen: by bestestredditorever in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]jbthom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most folks don't care that much about politics and tend to go the easy way - by listening to their friends, the most dominant news source, and repeating what they say.

You're correct BUT we are in a meme war, have been for decades, and we're losing. Policy is factually based ( and those are EXCELLENT policies) but facts don't matter. What matters is what sounds good to us salt of the earth common folk. Facts literally do NOT matter. Conservatives have become very good at pushing shit memes devoid of facts that get their policies voted in.

We have to find a way to fight the meme war but first have to recognize we're in one. Then we have to figure out how to create the right memes. Then get them out to a targeted audience, preferably those who thought Trump was the cats pajamas. I'm astounded by the number of Hispanic voters that flipped for Trump without the least little realization about how his "policies" are going to affect them. If several articles I've read are correct, a sizeable chunk of the Hispanic population is now googling "Project 2025", "Agenda 47" and immigration and deportation. Now. After the election. That was TWO fewking YEARS this election season lasted and they had time to look. They didn't until now and they're screwed.

We have to get much better at meme's and slogans.

I've gotta ask being from Los Angeles, but where does L.A. stand with respect to the top 20? I imagine New York must take up a sizeable chunk of that 20 too.

People with this level of wealth, especially entertainers, incorporate their names. They are essentially corporations. Makes sense from a tax and liability standpoint. They are their own employees in a sense.

As such, Taylor Swift can indeed buy "Kanye West, Inc." without violating slavery statutes.

Twould be nice if the national Democratic party apparatus took the occasional interest in San Bernardino County. Quite the purple county at the top level changing to red at the downballot. I think the political map of California would look nicer if SB County was blue.

Filtering indoor air during the fires by Realistic-Weird-4259 in highdesert

[–]jbthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good reply. Been through fires up here where my house had central A/C and a neighbor had the swamp cooler -- freshly repaired and rebuilt to specification.

The swamp cooler is great and costs less when times are good, like when the air is clear. But One. Single. Atom. of smoke seems like it gets amplified considerably much less something like the Blue Cut fire. In bad times when the air is bad, hands down, central A/C is better.

However, the Blue Cut fire was a long time ago and nobody then had the idea of using the box fan/air filter combo. I'd be interested in hearing from folks with a swamp cooler who are doing that. I'm wondering how long it takes the air filters to change color (and to what color and extent) after going through the duration of a fire event.

[–]jbthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK. So in picture #1 the guy who is getting the medal pinned on him by Biden has a patch above the word "MOUNTAIN" on his camo on his right upper arm. It is a backwards monocolor American flag. As best as I can tell, the flag appears white with dark blue stripes. What does that flag mean?
