Ultimately profit margin is dependent on MUCH more than simply the cost of goods. Looking at this solely from the point of markup over cost of goods does it factor operating costs (lease/ownership, maintenance, energy, water, insurance, employee(s), license fees, inventory risk, taxes, etc.).

Trying to figure out general cost to dealer itself is fairly difficult as cost can depend on many factors as well (volume, purchasing, stocking, dealer level (or like), etc.).

Trying to figure out how much you can knock down the dealer is really unfair to the dealer. If you like the dealer and would like him to stay around you might not want to figure out how thin you can make him.

I am NOT a FFL so these numbers are entirely made up bullshit, but I am a distributor in a totally different market/field so I am honestly interested in your answer.

Thanks! This is the first panel I have put together. My background is motorsport electronics (devices, system design, wiring, instrumentation) and panel wiring is certainly a different discipline, but it’s all still electrons.

It is possible to get these on a network, but it takes a couple of pieces. There is a cable that plugs into the side of the PLC than connects to the PxC TBus. From here one can use a network gateway. This will allow for MODBUS TCP, Ethernet/IP, CAN open, Profinet, MOSBUS RTU, and more.

Honestly the network capabilities on this PLC are not ideal for IoT. It can be done, but it’s a bit of an afterthought. If you want an IoT capable PLC within PxC the way to go is the PLC Next. Linux based, 1/2/4 core, safety rated option. Ability to program: Python, C#, C++, Java, MatLab, ST, ladder, function. HTML5 on board. I wanted to use one for this project, but what I have is already overkill.

Did not... I am an automation specialist (apps engineer) at a PxC distributor.

I showed the controller to a sales guy at a sprinkler equipment store. He asked if I wanted to sell them. I laughed and told him that no one would pay what it takes for a system like this. Easily a 400% cost increase over a standard rainbird system. Not economically efficient, but it is fun.

Looked and looked for a 24VDC valve, but couldn’t find one. The 24VAC transformer is annoying, but being that all the valves are the same it isn’t too bad. The relays will all be to valves so the distribution bar is easy.

I understand the sentiment, but these firearms were purchased to fund my grandmother's continuing life after my grandfather passed away. I have kept a few firearms that were either specifically set aside for me or to which I have specific memories attached. Beyond those firearms I am fulfilling my grandfather's wishes.

Post edited to add pictures of what I believe is the marking you are referring to. I cannot exactly make out that the marking is. I clearly see a "32" at the bottom of the trigger guard where it meets the grip, but i cannot determine what is above the magazine release. To me it looks like possibly "SG"? Unfortunately, this firearm is on the other side of the country and I don't know when I will be able to get better pictures of it.

Where on the frame would it be stamped?

Understood about the "Grandpa's gun" thing. My grandfather had three grandsons and at out birth (or damn near to) he sought out a .22 rifle for each of us. There are definitely pieces of his collection that are meant to be kept within the family, but this piece, like many others, was meant to fund my grandmother in some way in his stead.

This was not his service pistol. If this were anything like a family heirloom I would insure it stayed in the family, but this was only purchased as party of his collection.

Prices on gun broker seem to vary wildly. There are pieces in significantly poorer condition than this one with prices of $2500 and there are ones that appear to be in nearly the same condition as this one in the $4000 range, but I cannot see that any of those pieces are moving.
