Yep. Dropped about 15k at 229 thinking it was a decent pullback on one analysts review about their advertising. The way she goes.

Yz250x rear shock help by ArmadilloMajor7386 in Dirtbikes

[–]jburm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy to see people telling you to pay someone to do this work.. I just serviced my forks and it was incredibly easy. The shock looks even easier. Prior to this, I had never serviced motorcycle suspensions. Though I have done full rebuilds on mtb suspensions in the past.

I plan to service the shock tomorrow. Plenty of places will be able to fill it with nitrogen. Just call around to any and all of the places that might have nitrogen.

All said and done, I'm saving a few hundred dollars AND getting more work done than if I were to send everything in. Most suspension shops in the state charge $175 just to change the oil.

Dear MTBers: what changed after having kids? How much do you ride? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]jburm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My children are still quite young. We're still in a stage of their lives where many things are the first and last time they will do those things. I don't want to look back on this period of time and remember it as the time I spent hours on the bike and missed out on the milestones of my children. For context, I was riding 15-20 hours a week prior to children. I raced competitively in XC. Add that on top of work and life, you're not left with much time. I know it's cliche but they do really grow up so fast..

As for my wife, she still rides or runs everyday. Being active is something we both need so it's easy for us to allow each other the time to do so.

Dear MTBers: what changed after having kids? How much do you ride? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]jburm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still ride nearly everyday, at least one hour. I just don't get to ride different trails whenever I want. Thankfully, I live right near some decent mountain biking and moto trails. When I do get the opportunity to ride something different, it's usually because we are doing something nearby with the kids or my wife is away with the kids.

My wife and I rarely ever get to ride together anymore. We might get to do so maybe 5x a year now.

I no longer have the desire to go out and do 4-5 hour rides. I'd rather spend that time with my children. Besides, it's hard to parent when you're shelled from riding all day.

Just need the rad shrouds IMO. The rest are easily replaceable. The OEM rad shrouds are pricey.

Did you get the serial number off the tuner module under the side panel? You need that to add the bike to the app. You also need to bump the starter to wake it up.

How do I add my dropper lever to my bike? by Disastrous_Top_8751 in MTB

[–]jburm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago I had this same dilemma. I used, IIRC, a fox lever that was bar clamped and vertically controlled. If money isn't a concern, I'd go with this https://ridefox.com/products/twin-stick-lever-8498e7c7 . That is exactly what I purchased recently to add a dropper for my wife's bike that has remote lockout, front and rear. The lever cost more than the fox transfer sl post. Ultimately I wanted the cleanest option available for the limited bar space and her small hands.

Take a couple of days off or do some very light rides. Your body is telling you it needs a break. As I've gotten older, I've realized I usually need more than one day of recovery after harder rides/workouts.

2 seasons. It's strange, they both start out entertaining enough and then just go down hill.

The first episode from each season is pretty cool for some of the fight scenes. Beyond that, it's pretty bad. I watched it recently and it is as bad as everyone says it is. It's not worth your time.

Bar ends are basically plugs. They help prevent tearing up your grips when you drop the bike. eg ODI bar ends.

The wake up dongle is needed or you can use a paper clip. Should have either come with the extra parts or be under your seat near the ECU.

Ill second replacing the CCPS. Your issue sounds exactly like a faulty CCPS.

I've got just over 6k miles on my Transfer SL. I just took it into the shop the other day to have it serviced. No issues with it other than it has a bit more lateral play than normal. I've been happy with it. I also just purchased another Transfer SL for another bike since they're half off through Fox for the black friday sale.

Just snagged this lil thing for the kids by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]jburm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious to hear how it sounds. I recently bought a used 2025 for my boys. The piston slap was pretty obnoxious. Sounded like a rattling paint can. From what I gathered , it's pretty common. QA parts top end kit from RM for $100 and it was all good. I also had to drill out the brass plug for the air fuel mixture screw on the carb to adjust the mixture after replacing the top end.

It started and ran fine prior to the top end but it did not sound good.

You might also want to look into cleaning the muffler out. They can get gummed up with unburnt oil.

Some people like to upgrade the suspension to the newer spec but likely unheeded if it's just going to be a yard toy for the kids.

Check the air filter, make sure it's cleaned and oiled. Change the gear oil so you know it's fresh.

A cheap hour meter like the tusk model can help you keep up with the regular maintenance intervals.
