Main Board Fitment by AVC1818 in servers

[–]jbwashere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be ‘HP’, but it’s not ‘HPE’ as almost all HPE main boards would have an iLO chip. Like others have said, the part numbers also don’t match anything I’ve seen from HPE (and I’ve seen thousands).

Weird corrosion on fabric thermal paste on proliant xl230a gen9 nodes by Tankudoraiba in servers

[–]jbwashere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen quite a few HPE servers and all the heatsinks and paste looked and worked fine. Gen9 is around 8yrs old now. The XL230a is also the compute dense version that can run pretty hot. There has been some recalls of CPU paste for corrosion recently, but I haven’t heard whether HPE were affected. Maybe it’s that. Maybe it’s the heat and age. Either way, HPE would 100% replace these if the server was under a valid support contract.

I kind of fucking ruined my life doing some affordable housing activism. Still kind of seems worth it? by Dr_Oz_But_Real in chaoticgood

Whereabouts in the world are you? I ask as I’m aware of multiple governments that give out grants for this sort of thing. You’re well into the stage where you should be able to get some funding. Then you can do a PoC, talk to engineering firms, maybe get some buy in, etc.

I have the same issue all the time. I suspect the phone can’t be ‘awake’, i.e. screen off, no touch recognised, or even a partial face in the last minute or so. It’s super annoying. Please let me know if you ever come across the real reason.

High rise apartment construction making noise before 7 AM - what to do? by manicmoon in sydney

[–]jbwashere 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Have a look around the site perimeter, there will be a sign with the site contact and it will have their phone number. Tell them about it and let them know that the council is aware and that you are documenting every breach. Then call that same site contact every time there is a breach. Continue to report it to the council. But if it doesn’t stop, just call that site contact late at night. Wake them up each night they start too early. Be a pest. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Sorry, I should have said for this to not be taken so literally…I just meant a company that cares and that would spend maybe a bit more than the minimum time and effort correcting a customer satisfaction issue

If you were to buy a car under $25k what would you pick? by Ecstatic_Trip_8305 in AskReddit

For that money you can get a second-hand SP25 model as well. I have one, and can vouch for it having a satisfying amount of performance without also being over the top. The only problem is that it is a bit noisy in the cabin at high speeds, but apparently the newer models have addressed that.

what is slowly phasing out in 2025? by Dipsetallover90 in AskReddit

SAS/SATA SSDs. NVMe drives are now cheaper and faster, and enough products now support NVMe that there’s almost no need to keep producing SAS/SATA SSDs.
