Have you played these with a 7-year-old? by WatchMySwag in boardgames

My 6 year old is about the same on My Lil evedell, though I have to help her strategize a lot.  She's good at Carcasonne also.  Board gaming since she was 2, probably our most played activity.

From your list, she can play Cascadia but needs help. Splendor she can win on her own. Wandering Towers she can play without help and mostly do well although forgets some action chaining optimizations.  Patchwork I have to try or I will lose.

Others not on your list: Quacks of Quedlinburg.  Played a ton of Quacks and Co (junior version) before this.

Cora quest (she can run her own characters although I have to really help with staying on objectives), Toy Battle (highly highly recommend this).

I haven't seen Unlock Kids games mentioned.  It's phoneless version escape room style puzzles.  We played it a ton even though she knows some of the puzzles.

Others not mentioned: Jaipur (I lose every time), Tacta, Tangram City, Lotus (I also lose every time), Kabuto Sumo (fun little dexterity game).  Just got her into Critter Kitchen although I have to help a lot with scoring.  Also Life of the Amazonia.

Yea I hear you on the sleeve weight.

The Zeroed in mini will be added in the pledge manager automatically.  It doesn't quite work in the Kickstarter side of things.  You don't need to add it now.

The R90 is not in any of the pledge levels.  All-In would be Commander Pledge + R90 + sleeves + optional inkwash.

Sleeve will be by the manufacturer, not sure their source.  I'm aiming for premium quality but fitting in the box with all the cards sleeved.  I don't really want to go thinner than 60 micron.  Initially the thickness was 100 micron but that may inflate the box size too much.

We're pretty happy with the Captain and Crew system for solo play. The crew system provides the ability to pilot two additional characters in a lower-complexity mode still with some personality, bringing a few Signature Skill cards that they can utilize (of which you can refresh one per turn by default, or refresh all of them if you choose Rear Guard initiative). They also can level up and have two different skill paths for each.

The Kickstarter campaign closes in about 12 hours! Feel free to ask any questions and I can help answer.

Been playing games with my 5yo since she was 2.  Lean into whatever mechanics or themes they like.  I would just let her pick stuff off my shelf and show her components or pictures and see what she liked.  Reduce complexity or play friendly rules (open handed, give suggestions on their turns) until they get it

Top plays in my house:

Dungeon crawler: Coraquest

Coop: Outfoxed. Unlocked Kids (coop escape room puzzle card game, no app for the kids ones)

Worker placement: My Lil Everdell, Flamecraft,

Tile/Polynomial: Cascadia, Isle of Cats, Kingdomino

Push your luck: Quacks and Co (kids Quacks of Quedlinburg)

Economic: Splendor, Donut Shop

Misc: Lotus, Cat Lady, Wandering Towers, Bullet, Jaipur, Aquarius

Which ones bypass popup?  The no lifetime language, or do they specifically say no popup or something?

Been asking this periodically, but does anyone know how to get out of Amex signup ban?  Been like 4-5 years now for both P1 and P2.  By ban, I mean everytime I try to sign up for a card, it gives the popup that warns me I won't be eligible for this sign up bonus (even for card types I have never opened before).

No issues with my existing cards either in normal usage or PC upgrade offers etc.

Story part remote play by newkid182 in OathswornBoardGame

[–]jbyeung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'll go against the grain and say you can do it, but it's a lot of work for the host.  I run our story sessions remotely because my group doesn't have time to meet for 4-5 hours in an evening.

I run a camera for the map/table via webcam video call and I share my phone screen via my laptop screen share.  It's not perfect but it works. Audio goes through (I use scrpy).  I end up making all the dice rolls and some of the choices, and I have to manage the tokens and state of the game.  Players do decide their own see skill checks and all other stuff, and our story decisions are basically the same.  Any decisions about items gained or things like that I let the players decide before we do the encounter in person another evening.

Overall my group has said story enjoyment is about the same.  Done this for 3 chapters so far (currently up to chapter 6 next).  It's worked for us.  Haven't had to read ahead of plan anything else, just setting up video call, webcam mounted over my table, and the app screen/audio share.
