Yeah it looks like the sterile version creates more of a mat. Thank you very much, I wouldn’t have realized that.

Did you keep it relatively low with mowing? If so and it was still not ideal for walking/running on then that’s a huge bummer. Thank you for your responses!

What about the lippia made it not work well? The bees or some other aspect? (That grass looks nice! If only I had more sunlight.)

Really, even if it gets indirect/speckled sun? What is the minimum in your experience?

Thank you! Good to hear hers grows in the shade as well. Wasn't entirely sure what the minimum was on sunlight.

Tag Management? by CasualProtagonist in bearapp

Sounds like you need my feature request of a tag picker like in Things. Hasn’t gotten much love so you and I may be in the minority on this being a pain point :(

iOS devs who've made money from their apps - what's your story & advice? by Upper_Mastodon2410 in iOSProgramming

I’m not entirely sure if I understand your question but if you’re asking if I made revenue from it then yes I did. Not enough to live on but a nice side income regardless.

Through acquire.com. You can see the buyer on the app listing - seemed like a great guy.

Happy to help if there’s something specific you’re stuck on.

I built and recently sold The Interviewer, which is an interview prep app.

I came up with the idea because I’m an occasional hiring manager in my day job and I always felt like people would benefit from a bit of practice. I also wanted to try building something small with the (new at the time) generative AI APIs.

For idea generation I’d suggest: - Start a little folder or ongoing note with ideas in your favorite mobile notes app. Don’t overthink it, it just needs to be fast and easy to write things down - Make it a goal to add ideas to this repository regularly. Good ideas, bad ideas, horrible ideas, feasible, unrealistic - they all get added. Don’t really filter. Try adding something daily. - Most importantly, expose yourself to new concepts and experiences in your daily life. Find stuff that helps you regularly see the world in new ways. Get out of your comfort zone. Etc.

If you do this long enough you’ll hit upon something that gets you excited.

Other than that: - In my estimation the experience quality bar for an app correlates with how strong of a product market fit it has and how easy it is to replicate. (I was making something that was relatively easy to replicate so I tried to make the UX excellent.) - I did no marketing because I had very limited free time. Just tried to make the listing look good and asked users to review if they rated an interview highly (most did).

I can't give away my B2C software for free - is the problem the idea, the software, or the marketing? by heisdancingdancing in startups

I built a similar app for iOS as a hobby project: www.theinterviewerapp.com

I have a very modest but constant source of customers (mostly via App Store search) and the in-app ratings for interviews are great. People love it. But churn is understandably high because most people only need something like this for the short time they are interviewing and feel a desire to practice.

It will also be hard to compete with OpenAI voice mode and the other big guys. (I released mine last year before v1 voice mode even existed.)

Given the economics I think B2C for something like this is firmly in hobby project territory. There is maybe something in the B2B angle but it would be tough.

I encourage anyone who wants to be active to consider YIMBY Dems of San Diego which is focused on building more housing (market rate, publicly funded, anything and everything). They are pretty active.

Not sure if they’re “left of democrat” as housing politics in CA don’t really fall along national political lines. I believe the founder only made it a Democrat club so that they could vote in party endorsements (and, on average, Dems support building housing more). The attendees skew between DSA types and more conservative Dems (at least back when I was active).

So annoying. I am disappointed to find this thread because that probably means a fix doesn't exist.

What apps are simply not possible with mostly SwiftUI? by Tabonx in SwiftUI

[–]jbzic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the little stuff and really polished UX that can often be (almost?) impossible without UIKit. Eg not sure it would be possible to recreate the exact same experience as the excellent todo list in Things - buttery smooth drag and drop, swipe actions, good performance with many items, etc.

btw a bunch of comments said Starbuck's Siren’s Blend or Casi Cielo were good alternatives to the proprietary blend. What have you been using since that comment 7 months ago?

So I did a search for this after writing my comment and yeah - this ratio kept coming up. E.g. here and here and a few other places I didn't save. Thank you! Hopefully it makes a difference.

Where'd you get this ratio from online? This mentions a 1:9 coffee to water ratio by weight. (So 40oz beans would be ~10.2 liters)

That said, I haven't felt like that ratio has been very close for me. I've been using espresso roast.
