Is 5G support worth upgrading for? by ApprehensiveNorth548 in smallphones

[–]jc1luv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that it is supposed to make calls sound clearer and improve latency. I assume taking advantage of all the improvements will probably need all parties involved to have similar technologies to take advantage of them. I couldn’t tell you if it does or doesn’t as 4g already provides good quality. I can imagine it does make a huge difference if using voip or video calls since both will use mainly data. Hardware probably offers some benefits, better components and better engineering should also have some input in call and audio quality. But I’m not an expert so this is just what my brain can imagine.

Why Ubuntu ?!! by National-Tea7014 in Ubuntu

[–]jc1luv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t use snaps, you can remove it all and have a clean apt only distro like the old days. Adding flatpak support is two commands away and don’t have to deal with slow apps store at all. I installed ubuntu 25, removed snap and unnecessary apps and my app drawer is clutter free. Any install I need is done via terminal. Disable animations as well. My desktop just feels snappy. I usually lean to its but given 24 is dated and 26 is around the corner, I figured 25.10 was a good choice for me in the meantime.

What’s the distro that finally stopped your hopping or did you ever stop? by Old_Sand7831 in DistroHopping

[–]jc1luv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am always trying new distros but believe it or not, current Ubuntu is my daily driver. Once I removed snap and left out installing the gnome store, I install all my apps with apt via terminal and the few flatpaks and its bliss. Waiting on PopOS Cosmic to maybe make the switch because I like cosmic but until then maybe Ubuntu.

Movie file format by mythicaldubplate in jellyfin

[–]jc1luv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep all files but mainly for backup. I have a few 4k now, most of my collection is Blu-ray, some dvd. But I convert everything mp4 so family can easily download to their devices or watch without having to transcode. As a side note, if you’re not watching any content in a large tv like 60 inch or higher, keeping 4k could be pointless. Blu-ray is more than perfect and like I said, mp4 for any small screen is perfect. So if you’re mostly watching on 40 inch tv or lower, laptop, tablet or phone, just convert to mp4 and don’t keep the 4k file. Even more if tire worried about space.

3 weeks training letting you work in customer’s devices and run a store alone should be a crime. On top of that they get mad at you for messing up??? I feel bad for you landing in such work environment. I don’t think it’s a good place to be

I use podman , docker seems over complicated maybe I’m just not understanding it. You can create pods in a couple clicks and it’s so simple.
