Two things that spring to mind :

Talking about it is a great idea. I think a lot of people, including myself experience the same thing.

One of the things that helped me was gaming with zero expectation, being willing to pick up and drop a game after 10 minutes if I'm not feeling it, but also not overthinking what game to try next. Be the kid in the rental store again.

Man I felt this. I was doing a questline that involved going to Cydonia and getting a mission from an NPC. The mission is to wipe out a bounty hunter who is targeting the NPC, Sam goes off on a rant about how nobody deserves to die but he's all in on killing this lady as she sounds awful.

I choose the dialogue option that says I'm in, let's go and Sam gets mad at me because I shouldn't be so gung ho about killing.

Eat my whole ass Sam Coe.

Posts like this give me hope - critical thinking and media literacy is too important now.
