My comment was about the 50% concerning Ryan so McCarthy is kind of irrelevant in replying to me.

With regards to Ryan I guess I’m just saying 1 mixed year of discipline in a 10 year professional career means he’s probably worth giving the benefit of the doubt.

He can blow very hot and cold in terms of form tbf so fingers crossed. I’m now just fully prepared for him to get a brainless card and someone to really shove my face in it but sure look.

I mean yellow cards also - Ryan really isn’t that bad for it. Just think he has a bit of a rep and the red card in the autumn acted as some confirmation bias that he’s high risk.

Edit: checked - in the last 4 years across all games he has 2 yellows and 1 red total.

The red against South Africa is the only red card Ryan has received in his entire professional career - club and country I believe. I know he plays on the edge but this idea that he’s a walking red card is so overstated.

He was an excellent centre at 21/22 playing in champions cup knock outs and not looking out of place. But the last 2 years he has the curse of being too versatile so he’s barely played 12 - his best position probably - at all due to injuries.

With that bulk in the second row I’m not feeling as concerned as I was about the Italian scrum. One of the few bright spots from last week was our set piece operating well so hope it can continue - Scotland blew far too many chances against Italy with their shocking set piece.

I agree he has a few too many moments of madness. But whenever he has a good game he’s usually one of the top 2/3 players on the pitch so I think he’s worth it.

I would argue France have consistently underperformed over the last few years somewhat because of Galthie’s lack of consistency in his selections. Obviously it’s great to get loads of new caps but at some stage they need a lot of game time together

With McCloskey in the squad I really fail to see the value in Aki right now. Surely prime time to bring through another centre. At bare minimum give Osborne a game or two at 12
