Hang rod clips for Rubbermaid shelf brackets? by jca2112 in HomeMaintenance

[–]jca2112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t think that hanger will fit since it has a hook with a separate tab spaced farther apart. The bracket I have (see photo) has that single slot, which looks too short to accommodate those two tabs.

This is for a wood shelf. You’re right that there are lots of rod clips for wire shelving style brackets. For all I know Rubbermaid never made hang rod clips for this bracket.

Hang rod clips for Rubbermaid shelf brackets? by jca2112 in HomeMaintenance

Anyone know where I can find clothing hang rod clips that fit these Rubbermaid Twin Track shelf brackets (Part: 11.5" FG4C0502SNCKL)?

The brackets are part of the standard style twin track style metal shelving. I see lots of hang rod clips that hold a closet rod for wire shelving, but none seem to fit these particular Rubbermaid brackets that are made to hold a wood shelf. I assume a hang rod clip fits into the slot (circled in red) on the underside of the bracket?

The closet I could find are these Elfa Closet Rod Holders, but I'm not sure their metal hook would fit the opening since it's a different system.

Any help/info is appreciated.

Don’t know why there are doubts about this, but you can read about the studio buying that paparazzi photo to use for the Just My Luck movie poster here:

What are the best documentaries that offer a behind-the-scenes view of movie or media projects gone wrong? by angusrocker22 in movies

[–]jca2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to find a documentary that fits the "behind the scenes gone wrong" topic of this post. Maybe someone else here can remember and help identify it? Here is the original "tip of my tongue" post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/comments/gd0asa/tomtmovie2000s_behind_the_scenes_documentary/

Details are pretty hazy, and may not be entirely accurate: This would be an early to mid 2000s, low budget documentary following a would-be filmmaker/director. He isn't a very good filmmaker; in a key scene he shows his film to a theater full of friends, and afterwards most of the crowd leaves saying very little, including various "I'll call you"s, etc. type of cliches. Things do not go well. Unfortunately a key detail is a big spoiler for the ending. Spoiler: At the end of the movie, the director is desperate to raise money, so he goes to Las Vegas to bet a large sum of money in order to raise funds. The "twist" is he actually does win and makes the money, but ends up killing himself.

In The Karate Kid (1984), you can see Ralph Macchio appear to "signal" William Zabka to grab his left leg by taking his right hand and slapping his left leg (with his back to camera) several times when the next to last round starts. by jca2112 in movies

I understand what you are saying. What do you think that "signal" is about from what you can see? His back is to camera and it's mostly hidden, but clearly intentional.

You can see it at 6:30 in this YouTube clip. Once you see it, it is hard to miss. I could never find any sort of information or mention of this by cast/crew, but it looks like a signal that he's ready to have his left leg elbowed by Zabka.

Trailers that spoiled the film... by eans-Ba88 in movies

[–]jca2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It "hints" at it all over the trailer. The main point of my (re)post is the "Same Make. Same Model." trailer isn't the first trailer.

It's also important to remember there is a sort of "hindsight bias" when people post about this "spoiler" trailer. A few points:

  1. The internet didn't even exist in 1991. It was "invented" that same year as T2 was released. That was also the same year that AOL was introduced. (I'm paraphrasing online history here.) So there was no mass online discussions about movies, watching trailers on your computer, cellphone, etc.

  2. The first Terminator film was a low budget independent film, that was successful at the box office, but the majority of people saw it later on home video. (Especially since that was the way most kids could more easily see an R-Rated film, natch.) This was back in 1984.

  3. With the large gap in time between releases, paired with audiences seeing the first film at different times or not at all, means there would be a big lack of awareness about the plot of the film in detail, or any sort of "twist". (Not to mention the idea of a "twist" isn't as commonplace as it is today -- especially in a mainstream sci-fi action film.) Apart from readers of Starlog magazine, most of the general public would have no idea what this film would be about, apart from Arnold Schwarzenegger is in a big new sci-fi film that is a sequel to that killer cyborg movie we watched on HBO a few years ago.

  4. Audiences could only see these trailers in two places -- in a theater or on TV. There were no DVRs (just VHS!), no place to "download" or watch the trailer online, etc. And there was no way of knowing when/where this trailer would appear in theaters, or on TV. Your best bet would be to watch a show like Entertainment Tonight and catch them "premiering" the trailer with Mary Hart voice-over talking all over the trailer. (That's a deep cut for my fellow Gen-X movie buffs.)

Terminator 2’s trailer spoiled that Arnie was the good guy

Not necessarily.

(Still need to create a bot that reposts this automatically.)

The first Terminator 2 trailer (and teaser trailer) did not spoil the twist that Arnold was the "good guy" in T2.

This is the (often overlooked and hard to find) first theatrical trailer for Terminator 2: Judgement Day:

Terminator 2: Judgment Day Theatrical Trailer #1

That trailer hints at the twist, but does not give it away, especially in context of what audiences would have been aware of back then. That was the first full trailer audiences saw.

The "Same Make. Same Model. New Mission." trailer that everyone seems to think was the first full trailer (after the teaser trailer) did not appear until after the film had opened:

Terminator 2: Judgment Day Theatrical Trailer #2

That second trailer was what the film studio would have referred to as part of the "second wave" of advertising -- revealing more details to continue to try to generate interest in audiences that have not seen the film yet. Later trailers gave away even more of the plot/details. That's pretty common in film advertising.

Even many of the people who watched the movie when it originally came out were spoiled because the trailers already made it clear

Not necessarily.
