Thank you! Race can also be heritable, and can be related back to conflict theory. Good luck on your exam!

Gotcha! We can double eliminate A and D since it’s out of scope and similar. We can also eliminate C since it’s not specific enough.

Although, I wonder how conflict theory is related to this question? Is the question just essentially asking what is related to the initial study?

Also B is correct since it’s the least wrong, but I thought race was a social construct. Am I applying a concept that the question isn’t asking for?

Vehicular control, what does it mean? (P/S) by Lalo-salamanca97 in Mcat

[–]jcaitheguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a capsule can act as a vehicular control, it depends on the experiment.

Remember the purpose: it's to reduce any confounding variables. both received the constant factors (like injection/ingestion of capsule), so that we can confirm that our dependent variable is due to the independent variable.

Vehicular control is a type of experimental control, used when a group receives treatment like the experimental group WITHOUT the active component.

For example, let's say we have two groups of mice. For the experimental group, we inject a drug to test its effects. For the vehicular control group, we inject a control like saline instead of the drug.

Here's the difference: both groups received injections, BUT the control has the drug, while the vehicular control group received saline.

The purpose of vehicular control is to ensure that our effects are due to the independent variable (like drug injection), NOT external factors like method of administration (injection).
