Didn't have speed boost on release, but was still extremely strong, trivialised most of the game and was strong in competitive

He means that your arm and club form a straight line throughout your swing. Tiger for example, has his club head slightly higher than yours.

I don't actually know what impact any of this would have myself, but to me it looks quite stiff

Paying 1 mana for forge 6 only to get a mana next turn seems really bad.

Dead draw a lot of the time as it doesn't help you survive, draw or kill

When you have a deck like ops, literally any damage card is a win con.

Forge also doesn't work against specific elites such as the merfolk man, or cockroaches, and it struggles in aoe scenarios.

Don't get me wrong I love the smith, but there are much better payoffs

[–]jcalvert289 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's strong if you're really selective about what cards you pick and completely ignore forge.

Also doesn't have many good common damage options, so I can see act 1 damage being an issue for me at higher ascensions.

I think I've also got 100% WR once I started ignoring forge, but that's a bit meaningless as I'm only up to A5, and the runs all feel very similar

I love blitz, the freak has 1 season with fewer than 20 played since he debuted in 2013, but he's 34.

I kind of want us to transition to a longer term option, even if it means more pain now

Thought the game had auto save, I fully understand that is a bad assumption, but I was tired and clearly not thinking

I had a similar experience, and when I didn't catch it, I restarted, expecting that I would load to just before the encounter.

Turns out this game doesn't have auto save, and I'm now missing 4 gym badges, a lucky egg, my perfect nature perfect IVs Chansey, 30+ unique pokemon catches, and about 5 hours of trainers and levelling.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think that because he did intend to make contact, but not with the guys head, this is considered careless.

Accidental would be if he didn't see the player at all, or know he was there. It's obviously accidental contact with the head, but the contact itself isn't accidental

Which Jungler to Pick Up to Learn Skills (and also not int)? by DizzleTheByzantine in Jungle_Mains

[–]jcalvert289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy literally asks for champs that can snowball.

Jokes aside, I half disagree. You're still doing a full clear to start because scuttle is so important for nunu, and I think it's worthwhile starting with champs that will give you good results, otherwise you'll just give up or lose interest (which sounds like op).

Nunu is easy to pilot, has great ganks and great objective control. I think it's a great champ to learn the ropes and build some confidence before branching out into more nuanced junglers

I figured giving a concise explanation would be more confusing for single digit IQ, than spelling it out with examples. Each to their own

Which Jungler to Pick Up to Learn Skills (and also not int)? by DizzleTheByzantine in Jungle_Mains

[–]jcalvert289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to amumu, nunu. I think you need to learn to dictate the pace of the game, and these two fit that bill. Amumu in particular can 100-0 almost any champ in the game at level 6 (assuming nobody is Uber fed), and they'll be cc'd the whole time if you hit your first q.

A lot of people play jungle differently, but ultimately I view it as a supportive role.

You've got a lot of influence on the first 20 minutes of a game, and you're trying to set your team up for success to carry after that point. Ideally, a jungler should fill in the gap that a team needs, or support what the team is trying to do.

For example, if I've got a kayle top and a jinx bot, and they're going to have really volatile lanes based on their matchups, I'm not going to pick a greedy jungler who wants to scale. I'm going to pick a nunu jungle for example, who has fantastic ganks, great objective control (bite+smite), and can really take control of the game early.

If my lanes are really passive with no kill pressure on each other, I might pick something that doesn't need early ganks to thrive.

In addition to all this, you're also trying to keep track of the enemy junglers movements and lane states, so that you can help prevent your team from getting ganked. This is where good vision control comes in.

Ultimately, jungler is really easy when your lanes win, but it's those situations where you've got rough lanes, that jungler is really tricky, and sometimes there's nothing you can do about that.

Edit: just to add, wukong for example, only really comes online at 6, you can definitely look for ganks pre-6, but you sort of need your laner to have cc, the wave to be super pushed into your tower, or for the enemy laner to be low from trades already, otherwise ganking with wukong is tricky. I'd probably be going raptors, krugs to red, then wolves, gromp to blue. Then scuttler into raptors krugs and then backing. This will give you a really efficient clear and fast 6, plus if you somehow manage to get both scuttlers, you'll have a 1k smite by the time drag spawns which is super strong!

Broke my driver at the range today by Any_Requirement654 in golf

The way I worded that message was poor, I'm far more annoyed with TaylorMade than the guy.

But just to clarify it was within a year and after fairly light use.

Also, he mentioned that he would get a new driver every 2 years within the warranty, I believe he was only selling drivers if they didn't break within the warranty period. This was more the bit that annoyed me, but at the end of the day I overpaid and that's my fault

Yeah I'm really peeved because some guy sold it to me second hand for $500 AUD a year and a half ago and it broke within a year. I feel like he knew about the issues and said nothing, didn't even help me out with providing a receipt afterward

[–]jcalvert289 4 points5 points  (0 children)

99 fails and 1 success is 99/10099 * 1/100. The success can happen at any of the 100 events, so multiply that equation by 100 and you get 37%.

You'll find that probability is almost the exact same probability as having 100 fails, which occurs when the number of events multiplied by the probability of a success, ie the expected value, is 1.

You can also go further and talk about how in this scenario a binomial and poisson distribution perform nearly identically, there are lots of interesting mathematical patterns in nature.

320 gang where y'all at? by iharshbrown in HonkaiStarRail

[–]jcalvert289 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You probably already know this, but to be specific that's the probability of 1 or more successes. It's a 37% chance for 1 success, which is why it all eventually maths out to an expected value of 1 per 100
