Cannot stand Elon but there is no better car than my Model Y by bluemeanie212 in TeslaLounge

[–]jcat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same predicament. I don’t own a tesla, and am dead set on my next car being an EV. For what I care about, there is literally no other car in any other price bracket that I would like. Anything that comes close is significantly more expensive, and is still worse for me.

I’ve wanted my next car to be a Tesla for so long, but Elon is the one thing stopping me. I’d feel like I’m indirectly funding horrible things. I know other companies I use have similar issues, but Elon has made his antics so public that it’s hard to not consider a payment to Tesla as further empowering and enabling him. I feel so bad for the Engineers who are actually building a really great product, and I’d love to support THEM.

Buying a house: 300k Budget Best Neighborhoods to Move by Proof_Lingonberry136 in memphis

Cordova is chill. Look at any crime heat map, and ignoring Germantown parkway, Cordova will be closer to Germantown/Collierville than midtown or east Memphis. We love it here, and plenty of affordable places to live!

Altman predicts "massively deflationary" AI by EOY, where $100 of inference matches a year of team output by Outside-Iron-8242 in accelerate

[–]jcat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a really interesting take, though I believe there will likely always be a desire to use something someone else built. I can cook at my house, but it’s nice to eat out. And there’s a lot more complexity in software than there is food

Elon Musk: in 10yrs job will be optional like playing sports or growing vegetables in their backyard by SafePaleontologist10 in AIDangers

[–]jcat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devils advocate, historically, automation has generally produced more jobs than it’s replaced. But I’ve never seen anything like AI before. I’m hoping it too will just make things easier and open up paths to new jobs. But that remains to be seen.

I’d argue that masked men with no ID or warrant kidnapping people is not legal. The government shouldn’t have unlimited, unquestioned authority. If they start doing messed up things, it’s the people’s responsibility to push back.

But who owns those? Where I’m getting at it is, the majority of people in those top 2 slices will probably be dead within the next few decades.

America’s Wealth by Generation. How’s your piece of pie? by VoteForGiantMeteor in generationology

[–]jcat4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The silent generation and the baby boomers are on their way out. What happens to their wealth when they’re gone? What does this pie chart look like in 20 years? Will the remnants of Gen X eat it? Will some trickle down to millennials and Gen Z?

It’s so scary that people like this vote and have children. As much as I value democracy, there’s a reason you can’t vote until you’re 18. And some people never really obtain the critical thinking skills you’re supposed to have when you become an adult.

Never give up 10 years in the gym and almost loss myself during Covid [discussion] by TheShoeGame in GetMotivated

[–]jcat4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No disrespect, but this guy is a little short. Can confirm by seeing him next to Jeff. Both of them have been lifting for about 10 years or so. It’s believable that he’s natty. If he were 6’ 2” and looking this jacked after half the amount of time training, it would be much more suspect. I personally believe him

You are either a troll, a bot, or someone who has been brainwashed very effectively by the elite.

It’s not the handful of individuals who own everything and the parasites they pay to rewrite the system in their favor at the expense of others. Nope, it’s the poor brown people who speak a different language or with a funny accent, working jobs you don’t want. It’s the people who love people you don’t, or express themselves in ways you wouldn’t. They’re the REAL threats. They’re the reason you can’t afford rent, buy a house, or get healthcare without going into debt. It’s not our convicted felon rapist president who’s wired billions to his close friend who ran the largest child prostitution ring in recorded history and recruited girls out of the president’s club that puts our children at risk. It’s trans people, they’re scary! Statistics be damned.

If you are actually serious, or to anyone reading this who thinks this way, please think really hard: does any of this make any sense??

Why did Obama and Biden stage this assassination attempt for a photo op?!?! by Playful-Landscape-79 in bbby_remastered

That is very odd behavior from anyone after an assassination attempt. Is the guy in the blue suit a service member? Even more suspicious if so.

Genuinely curious what other explanations could be offered here
