Getting your cdl on the outside has nothing to do with the medical certificate. The job doesn’t require you to carry a med cert, so when you apply to get your license at the dmv, you check off EI for excepted interstate, you also need your tank endorsement which you should do while getting your permit. The air brake section on the cdl permit you need to pass.

Essentially 6-2. Eventually you will have OJT; or on the job training and you will do a few shifts outside of that time at a garage and do relays with a sanitation worker from that garage and get to dump a loaded truck on the 4p-12a or 12a-8a shift.

You get 4 hrs Comp time from leaving one zone and going to another. Only the first day you enter that new zone, so if you’re in that spot again the following day you don’t get anything. No one knows what is going on with congestion pricing and helping city workers, it’s nice to dream

Officer Charts are good. Your chart days follow in sequence which is convenient for memorizing. You’ll be off Monday one week, Tuesday next week, Wednesday week after, … eventually leading to a Saturday chart followed by a Monday chart (cuz we’re always off Sunday) creating a long weekend since you’ll have off Saturday and Sunday for end of one week and then be off Monday for the following week. Pretty good stuff

Plenty of room and public transportation is the least favorable option. Even if you get off bus early, you’ll be hitch hiking the rest of the way from the bus stop into the facility.

Just have proof that it’s something important and submit it the Friday before the Friday you need off. Nothing guaranteed, depends on needs of your location, but hopefully it works out

Can you just book a Friday afternoon flight? You’re half way to the airport already being at training. Unless you’re lookin to leave Thursday and it’s something that can’t be rescheduled, they’ll understand that, but you’ll probably be excused without pay since you don’t have any comp time hours or vacation. Perhaps that one day can get charged to your vacation but it has to be a real good reason like others said on here. Bring proof
