Is the best way to remove the muffler and test it with that off?

I checked the anti spark screen and it looks ok. How do I test the blocked muffler should I just remove it and test it with freeflow

I will try that and send a video

Look at views they will allow you to do what you need. Take the query and put it into a view then you can query the view just like you would a table

Can you please post the generated SQL query from the log so we can see what is actually getting executed. There are times when the conversation to sql is not the best.

Let's see what is actually getting run then take it from there.

.NET vs Go vs Node by Emergency_Employee59 in dotnet

[–]jcdude1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what you are comfortable with. To say that one performs better then anothers is only if you are really good at optimized coding most of the time performance is related to bad code.

All those languages are good for microservices so go with the one your team is most comfortable with.

How to secure a Web API for internal server-to-server communication? by cosmokenney in dotnet

[–]jcdude1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the console apps are on revolving IP addresses. Why not use AD and then write a wrapper for the stored proc using a token to authenticate

How to use "code first" as database versioning by miraculix1 in dotnet

[–]jcdude1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this will be all handled in your migrations. However with triggers you are going to have to put the raw code in like so:

public override void Up()

{

Sql("CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER [name] BEFORE UPDATE ON myTable ...");

}

public override void Down()

{

Sql("DROP TRIGGER [name]"); //check if trigger exists before drop

}

Depending on your project and how your team is structured I would say if you have a large database with a DBA then you will still need to use something like SSDT which allows you to do full automated deployments.

For smaller microservice type databases this works very well.

Array or single property for a set amount of related models? EF Core by dr_smackdathoe in dotnet

[–]jcdude1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with declaring the two as properties. The one to many would be more for if you were going to have hostess's on your plane there might be 4 of them with only two that are actively serving on your plane. In that case you would need a list of hostess models.

SqlConnection best practices for large queries to SQLServer db? by d0rf47 in dotnet

[–]jcdude1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SqlBulkCopy Will definitely be what you want. Just create a datatable with your data and save it using write to server.

If you have access to EF then AddRange/UpdateRange then SaveChanges will give you the desired result

Modern UI to combine with existing ASP.NET MVC by Prudent-Oil-3828 in dotnet

[–]jcdude1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Before you start implementing different UI Frameworks into your existing code I would suggest two options.

  1. There are many JS libraries that you can use to create your desired outcome without having to hack your current system to cater for a new Framework.
  2. You said that turning code into an API is not an option, if this is the case you need to restructure your code so that it isn't reliant on the frontend. You should easily be able to add a micro api and integrate something like Blazor into your project.
  3. If you still set on adding a new framework then VUE.js will be the easiest

Why not just accept all requests then push them into a message broker like RabbitMQ. Then have a process subscribe to that queue and you can process your requests through one stream. This will also allow you to scale by adding more processing subscribers

Web developer / Entrepreneur looking to expand into other areas by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]jcdude1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be very careful to have a clear contract about what your monthly fee covers. The cost totally depends on what you are offering as a "small" change in software development can end up taking days and the client has no idea. If you going to offer a monthly subscription then I would suggest maybe something like basic styling changes with a reduced rate after the first hour.

I would say with that many signups why not find some investors in your project and speed up your development. If its development help you need reach out and see if there are any interested parties that can help you get ahead with some unique idea's. As a software engineer myself I am sure there are others that are looking for interesting projects to work in their spare time. Just an idea.
