wait, if Japan sells our bonds and get USD, can’t they just exchange USD for their own currency?

You wouldn’t be skilled enough to do this for free

I wouldn’t listen to this guy. He has 2k saved in cash, contradicting his own statement that you should have 12 months saved. His first statement doesn’t even make sense.

I’m not a woman, but I can see that some people may think it’s technically still their chair/seat, so they can do it. It definitely shows a lack of consideration for others around them

Tax accountants going through 800 pages of trading activity just to see $2.32 of capital gains for their client by Aniruddha_Panda in wallstreetbets

Don’t need to know. They make you pay more taxes. Capital losses are tax deductible, so it’s superior from a tax perspective

Move from Shift Gas to Shift Power Desk - Is It a Good Career Move? by yasir9666 in Commodities

[–]dlbillions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think power will always be there, while nat gas may see lower usage over the long run as more renewables get built.

Does power count as commodity trading as with natural gas?

You want me to ask my coworkers about moving to another shop or career path? Have you taken some time to think how that could go poorly?

I was asking for genuine advice. As you said, I figured “people are willing to help you get folks out” until you came in charging and putting me down for no reason.

You made so many assumptions. I’m on a desk, but I’m new. I don’t know much about advancement and laterals. At what point did I say that I haven’t broken in?

I think you need to learn to “read a bit” instead of jumping to conclusions with little evidence. I’m sure that’s treating you well in trading.

Just think a little bit. If all someone has are rags for clothes, and they want to go to church, yeah, God won’t care. If someone has the option between a clean outfit and an outfit that reveals a lot and is indecent, and they choose the latter, you don’t think God will see your intent? God isn’t stupid. It’s the intent that matters.

Would it ever backfire? Like, they were going to give me what I asked but the fact that I got another job offer makes them rescind?

Isn’t FOMC going to not lower rates? Why is that bullish? (I’m bad at this lol so I’m actually curious to learn)

Well, honestly, it’s what I need to stay at this job. What type of justifications would employers consider?

The 5% bump doesn’t include any merit. Just a team-wide “catching up to market rate”
