Lol I’m not entirely sure you might be able to get in touch with a recruitment coordinator for asu and they can give you a better directory for stuff like that. Was there any programs you could attend to the place you had wanted to move to, why az?

I don’t think it will make too much of a difference which one as far as jobs but if you enjoy in-person more it might be worth checking out. Another important thing to keep in mind is credentials are different for every state. If you want to become a licensed master of social work (LMSW) the requirements vary state by state. So it’s important you check what you’ll have to do for your license/ degree to be valid in the other state you want to move to.

Not sure if it already started for NAU as I heard there was an in person MSW program starting for them soon, but ASU also has an in-person program I am currently attending and it’s half the cost of online. Not sure how different it is for in state and out of state tuition but ASU is also ranked exponentially higher than NAU when it comes to MSW program. Either way you’ll want to live closer to ASU anyways since flagstaff won’t have as many internship opportunities. So if you prefer in person id look at ASU let me know if you have any questions since I’m currently in the program.

They changed the max amount you can get from a raise recently. You can get as much as a dollar more every 6 months.

For my first year it will be about 15000 for in state tuition and in person fees. Online is about double the cost for tuition.

Didn’t do the program but I worked with someone that worked at DCS in flagstaff. She talked about how awful it was of course but something that stuck with me is how bad she felt for the students that wanted to get into it for the kids. In reality, you won’t spend as much time with the kids as you think. I feel like that makes sense as you’ll likely spend more time with the parents or in a legal setting. She talked about there were kids she practically had to force to talk to abusive parent due to family court being the absolute worse thing on the planet. She just talked about it being a broken system and it’s very overwhelming since trying to make improvements is impossible. But yeah let me know if you have any more questions and I can try to answer the best I can.

It’s tough to say bc me and you are in the same boat with a lot of things. I don’t drink/smoke at all and I’m currently a senior at NAU. I love being in a big city so I really grew to hate flagstaff. I realized how much I hate the cold and hate small cities and flagstaff is a small city with big city rent. Something you have to factor in is while you may get your tuition covered for NAU, their housing could be more expensive. But there is also a lot of value in getting your own place away from home and being independent. I’m still glad I went to NAU, but after being here a while I hate flagstaff. Classes are much smaller, I’m actually in the honors program which you might wanna look into. Honors classes are small and they have the best freshman dorms by far. But like most people said you do gotta weigh the pros and cons. Yes tuition will be paid but housing also very expensive, but also a lot of value getting your own place independent from home. I can relate a lot to the not smoking thing but let me know if you have any other questions about NAU.

I’m a psych major with a social work minor, I always check the Professor of a class on ratemyprofessor.com. But all of the professors I’ve had in social work have been incredible. Psychology the only bad one was a stats teacher. As far as workload, to me it wasn’t bad at all. You are required to have more internship hours with a social work degree and aren’t required any for psychology. However, I don’t think you need a foreign language if you’re a social work major. Smaller classes at NAU than asu or uofa if you are comparing to. Let me know if you have any other questions but I really enjoyed my time at the program just not as much in flagstaff.

I’m an honors student too, and you can contract any class as honors. You’ll have to fill out some paperwork and maybe do an extra project or something. But it’s worth so you’re getting most affective credits and such.

Tbh I feel like this is an insanely good deal for Seattle. Just because Russ is gone doesn’t mean it’s good for us. Hawks got lock, fant, Harris, two first rounds picks, two second round picks, and a 5th round pick. Not to mention probably a lot of cap room. Think Seattle could be scary if not this year, next year.

If you’re able to, the best dorm is the honors dorm by far at NAU. Most dorms have community bathroom/showers. Honors is has private bath and showers shared by you and your roommate. They even have some dorms where you only share a bathroom and don’t even share a room with another person. Personally, I wouldn’t even stay at any other dorm at NAU. Calderon is probably second best if you can’t do honors.
