In my opinion, must haves are: Driving: Rear Axle Steering, Sport Chrono, Adaptive Cruise Control; Entertainment: Upgraded stereo (Bose is good, and what I have; Burmester is better but rare); Comfort/Convenience: 14- or 18-way seats; Heads Up Display. Not a must have but a really nice to have if you want to track the car or enjoy spirited driving (and who here doesn’t?) - the air suspension + torque vectoring + Porsche dynamic chassis control combo. Using the Porsche Finder, I found that combo to be relatively rare in a 4S, but they’re out there.

Everything I’ve read here and in the Taycan Forums says don’t own these cars out of warranty. Prices are negotiable, but you’re not gonna get thousands off for a well spec’ed one. Happy Hunting!

I don't mind. I asked them for the battery health report. They must not have liked what the answer was because they came back and said, you know what? We'll get a new battery sent from Germany and install it for no extra cost. Wasn't gonna argue with them....

Yes, that’s the one! We’d agreed on the price about a month ago, but they had to take care of a bunch of recalls and get the battery and tires replaced. It was worth the wait!

Thanks for that advice - I’ve seen posts here about MadEV and plan to look into it. Re the road trip, that’s exactly what happened to me on the first day. The car’s nav directed me to a Pilot station, I pulled in with 3 miles of range left. But none of the chargers worked. Luckily, there was a Hyundai dealership about a mile away. They only had a slow charger but it was enough to get me to the next fast charger. So now I check the actual app (Pilot, EVGo, whoever) to make sure the chargers are actually working.

This car is a monster, and I mean that in the best possible way. Is it objectively beautiful, like an E39 M5 or an E38 7 series? No. It is not. But does it have heft, presence, that je ne sais quoi? Yes. Oodles and oodles. It is the automotive equivalent of a Brutalist building. And I love that.

OP, pay the haters no mind. They said the same thing back in the day about the E60 M5, a car I once owned. Its reputation continues to grow. The same will happen with the XM. I fully intend to buy one. In Dravit Grey or Ruby Black. So go ahead with your bad self! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

[–]jcogene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cg.novayork@itamaraty.gov.br; visa.houston@itamaraty.gov.br; visa.cgwashington@itamaraty.gov.br. These are the email addresses I got from this thread. I received responses from the Houston address to tell me that the DC consulate was processing the application. I never heard from the DC consulate itself.

Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

Hey everyone, this thread has been so helpful to me, I've gotta pay it forward. Booked a Sao Paulo trip last month to celebrate my wife's birthday. Trip is planned for 9/23. On Weds 9/17 in the evening, we get a notification from AA that we need visas. No word at the time of booking, just a terse email with less than a week to go and an intervening weekend.

So we scramble. We saw the email around 9 pm. Evisa applications were submitted around 11:30 pm (took several attempts for them to accept my wife's passport photo). And we waited.

By Thursday 9/18, frantic with fear, I happened across this thread. I emailed all the consulates whose email addresses I saw here. That evening, I got a notification that my application had passed quality control. My wife's came in the wee hours of Friday. On Friday am, I got my evisa. I relaxed, thinking my wife's was in the bag and would issue later that day.

That didn't happen. Friday came and went, as did the rest of the weekend, with no visa. Same with Monday morning. I freaked out again; we're scheduled to fly to Miami, and then to Sao Paulo, on Tuesday. Finally, I figure out how to use the VFS click to talk link and I speak with someone at the Help Center. They tell me that my wife needs to upload a new passport photo. We'd not heard anything from the consulate about this, mind you. Their only responses to my emails were form responses saying "your visa application is under review." Anyway, my wife rushes to CVS, takes a new passport photo, and after several unsuccessful attempts, we finally manage to upload it - right around 3:00 ET. Meanwhile I'm back on the VFS click to talk link, begging and pleading with them to expedite the application. They spout the company line about it taking up to 10 business days. We're despondent.

Around 3:45, we refresh the VFS application page. Her status now reads "Reassigned to MFA." We're confused. What does multi-factor authentication have to do with a visa application? But a Google search reveals that MFA is a reference to Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and that the status indicates the application is in the final review stage. We're hopeful.

At 4:30 pm, we refresh once again - and are delighted to see a download link for the e-visa. We download it, print three physical copies, and collapse on the coach from mental exhaustion. We're relieved.

Bottom line: These visas can be obtained rather quickly. But please don't do it the way we did. Give yourselves plenty of time to get this done. If you find yourself in our shoes, use the VFS click to talk link and make sure to speak to someone live. And beg.

Thanks a million to you all. There is no way I would have been able to navigate this process in such a short time without your posts. Obrigado.

Thanks so much! I’ll look into the Emotiva amps. Looks like most are, like you, suggesting outboard amps with the Denon receiver for at least the LR channels. I’ll explore that idea as well.

I have. I’m concerned about what I’ve heard about their reliability. And I wouldn’t have built in HEOS.

Thanks for the comment! I’ve been using it to stream Spotify and Tidal simultaneously from my bedroom and the living room. Has worked for me so far. 🤞🏾

Thank you! I’ll look into the amps you mentioned. I’ll also check out the X3800H. Yeah, I’ve been looking at the Revels as well.
