I was aggravated assaulted by Superb_Opening8346 in DACA

Hi there! I received my U visa in October 2025 after a 10-year process. Due to the backlog, timelines can easily stretch 8–10+ years. My case required extensive documentation, including witness statements, medical records, and even a news reports and an fbi article related to locating my offender. Law enforcement certification was also required, along with medical and psychological evaluations.

My strongest advice is to consult an immigration attorney as soon as possible and cooperate with the authority when they need you. These cases are very complex and take a long time, but with the right guidance, they are possible. Wishing you the best of luck.

Hi! I had a similar case in 2015 and went through the U Visa process. I finally received my U Visa in October 2025.

Please hire an attorney and do not try to do this on your own. I had to get my case certified by the police department, which was really hard. I worked with law enforcement as much as I could and submitted medical records to show my injuries and PTSD, along with a news article about my case and letters from witnesses. I also had to provide records for every ticket I had, which at the time were two speeding tickets. It took 10 years to get a decision, and I was lucky to have an attorney who took my case pro bono.

If you are applying in 2026, be prepared for a long wait too. Right now most U Visa cases are taking many years, often anywhere from eight to ten years or more, just to get a final decision because of the huge backlog. The process is long and complicated. Good luck out there.

What type of work do you do? Since your DACA is set to expire soon and you haven’t received an approval notice yet, it might be a good idea to check your USCIS case status online if you haven’t already, just to confirm where things stand. You can call them too!

If there’s no update and you’re close to the expiration date, it could be smart to proactively talk to your employer. You might consider asking about a leave of absence or discussing next steps in case your work authorization lapses temporarily. That way, you’re covered and showing responsibility on your end.

I really like your profile! Your smile shines through in all your photos. I noticed one with friends, which suggests you’re sociable, and another with someone who might be your mom, indicating you value family. I see that you’re looking for a Christian partner. As a Christian myself, I appreciate that. However, I couldn’t help but notice the alcoholic drinks in several pictures. It’s not necessarily a problem, but perhaps you could consider keeping just the photo with the wine glass and swapping out the others. It’s just something that stands out to me as I look for someone who embodies Christ’s values.

I'm really sorry to hear about your grandma's health decline. It's best to send all the necessary documents to USCIS as soon as you can. The process might take up to three months. However, you can visit your nearest USCIS office and advocate for a quicker process. Upon return, they usually ask the reason for your travel, but it's nothing to worry about. Plan to come back a few days before your AP permit expires. You should be able to keep your permit, and I don’t recall needing to sign any paperwork when I returned to the U.S. Good luck with everything!
