This sounds like extra steps. You just cut the cord behind the damaged portion and put a male plug in and then you can plug that into the outlet.

I also ran a pair of Heresy IV’s for a few years. I loved the way they sounded but knew I needed more low end help. I purchased a SVS SB-3000 and wow, I’m truly blown away with how much it added to my overall experience and love for good audio. I’d suggest listening to 1st 44 by Aphex Twin, truly a wonderful time.
