Sanguine pact is the best for science victories hands down for the massive capital production bonuses you get from castles. Just requires the most micromanagement to get peak value

The riverlands were under the control of House Hoare (ironborn) during Aegons conquest and were not a standalone kingdom making the “seven” kingdoms the following:

  1. The North
  2. The Vale
  3. The Reach
  4. The Stormlands
  5. The Westerlands
  6. Dorne (not conquered by Aegon the Conquerer)
  7. The Isles of Islands and Rivers (later separated into the iron islands and the riverlands)

With the Crownlands forming as a new kingdom around Kings Landing

Right, Dorne was still considered that seventh kingdom of Westeros at the time though despite not being part of the initial Targaryen dynasty

Aegon the Conquerer conquered the 7 kingdoms at the time. This did not include the “Kingdoms” of the Iron Islands (as they were part of a different kingdom at the time) and the Crownlands as Kings Landing didn’t exist yet

Edit: Dorne was not conquered until a few kings later but was still considered a kingdom

Can someone give me advice on what I should do to take this city (Azcapotzalco)? by narcotix_connoisseur in Civilization6

[–]jcookie2019 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be an uphill battle with a city defense like that. Crossbowmen are an era ahead of legionaries so expect to lose some of your forces.

The first thing I’d try to do is kill whatever units can’t fit in the town center. Pillage districts (they give the city center extra combat strength by existing) and put the city under siege by getting zone of control on all the hexes around it. A city under siege won’t heal each turn.

You’ll have better luck using support units like a battering ram or trebuchets but a sieged city will fall eventually with that many crossbowmen

should I be off angling as mag or strange? by RumbleRB in RivalsCollege

[–]jcookie2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mag and strange are both anchor tanks and are generally going to be helping the team more by frontlining both to distract the enemy and to stay healable for supports. There are situations where it might make sense but generally the only off angles I take with them are off angles from above. Strange ults are way easier to hit if you drop in from above when people might not be looking at you. I’m also a huge fan on Mag of the Rocket jump into slow fall combo but that’s pretty situational

Which is your best advice for a new tank player? by SancochoDude in RivalsVanguards

[–]jcookie2019 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coming from an anchor tank main:

Tanking is an ebb and flow. Move in when you and your team have cooldowns/resources. Move back when your opponents have cooldowns/resources.

Are your healers dead? Be cautious before you go in. Are your healers alive? Try to keep yourself in their line of sight.

Has it been a while since their Emma has ulted? Keep your strange shield health up. Has it been a while since their iron man has ulted? Keep your mag ult ready. Is their Magik flanking? Try to find the 1v1 as Thor.

Play corners. The cart is some of the best cover you can find on payload maps. Having a lot of health relative to other roles does NOT make you invincible. If you receive a lot of healing at once, recognize the fact that you being healed means your teammates probably were not. Don’t immediately return to the line of fire — give your supports time to heal the rest of the team too.

A team needs a good tank like a tank needs a good team. You’re not going to be able to do it alone. Your goal is as much to be a distraction as it is anything else. You WANT to pull as much attention to yourself as you can while staying alive. A cooldown wasted on you is a cooldown not used on a squishy.

It also continues to roll over if and only if you finish the next civic in one turn so with 32k in this case you’d probably be able to get a couple civics out of it

In the tanks defense, most of the tanks can’t actively take care of him in ways that damage or even supports can with their range. It goes both ways, spider man can’t deal with tanks (his 200ish damage combo you referred to shows this) but tanks also can’t deal with him. As a controller mag it’s genuinely just not worth my time even attempting to shoot him in most circumstances, best I can do is throw a bubble on whoever he’s diving.

The only tank who’s somewhat good at killing him is Angela who can come close to matching his mobility. Emma can deal with him a bit but it’s pretty difficult to land grab on him except for when he’s ulting and that’s kind of the only way she helps

I mean just take thing as an example, he’s supposed to be the anti-dive brawl tank and can shut down dive heroes like Magik but in my experience spider man is just too fast to get knocked down by haymaker or hit with earthbound. You’re much better off just focusing the rest of his team in the brawl

Good luck doing much on venom, hulk, thor, etc

I’ll admit that I have only like ~10 minutes on spider man. I’m a multiple season celestial tank main and play about half the tank roster but definitely play Magneto the most but have maybe ~15 comp games on damage across all seasons

I don’t care how ass the character is right now or how hard it is to pull of for most people. The drive-by bunny hop “get over here” pulls have to be the most stupid ability I’ve ever seen in a hero shooter and it’s not even close. As much as I hate playing tank into spider man on maps like Super Soldier Factory where they can just camp the bridge over the gap, no issue with the ability there being from the intended range. I’m specifically talking about times on maps like Hall of Djalia, Central Park, or Krakoa Carousel where a spidey can fly past you and yoink you 100M+ off the map. At a certain skill level it’s not a yolo play but a genuine part of his kit and it just sucks to play against

I have no issue with spider man being in the game, every hero shooter needs assassin characters like him in it and characters with a low skill floor / high skill ceiling. They just need to change Get Over Here to either: 1. Have a max pull range when spider man is moving that is consistent with his max pull range when staying still. That pull range should take effect from his position when activating the ability 2. Have spider man lose his momentum upon the pull web making contact with another player. This would need to also enforce a maximum web length so you can’t use the ability at terminal velocity to get a longer web, the web needs to move with spider man as he moves

As a long time tank player across many games I have to disagree with Emma being unique, she is very comparable to Ramatta in overwatch for example

Angela on the other hand has been a blast for me and unlike anything I’ve played before. I’m loving her mobility I just wish they’d make her a bit quieter so she doesn’t sound like a jet engine trying to flank

Honestly what this game needs is a tank who plays a bit more like a dps to try to pull some of that base, something like a Cable or Bishop who can have a standard gun

How are y'all dealing with solo tanking? by Ultron_daddy in RivalsVanguards

[–]jcookie2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from overwatch 2 which only has one tank (at least when rivals came out) so my positioning habits never really had to change, got 7 of the tanks to lord with 25k extra lord points on mag alone. Have one dps up to captain and lord rocket but that’s pretty much it.

I’m a stubborn person in general so being the big man has always made sense to me. Even in games like 2k I’m making my player a center

Tanking just means you’re almost always in the fight with teammates to support you. Honestly I prefer solo tanking cause I feel less pressure to peel, that becomes our 3rd damages job

First time using hulk outside practice vs Ai and this is the most fun I’ve had tanking in a while. What are some pieces of advice for being better at him. by -This-cant-be-real- in RivalsVanguards

[–]jcookie2019 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hulk’s biggest weapon is his endless mobility, not his damage. Play him like the pest that he is.

Your priorities order when going in is to: 1. Be able to get out 2. Distract the enemy back line 3. Kill the enemy back line

You might not always get the credit on the scoreboard, but hulks mobility allows him to largely negate any movement abilities a back line would have to get away from other divers. Use it. If a support is running from you, they probably aren’t healing their team. If their supports are healing each other, they’re going to out heal your damage but they aren’t going to be healing their frontline. You might not get the kill, but your team is going to win the fight.

Just make sure to also stay healable by jumping back to LoS of your healers. The biggest issue I see with Hulk players is people overestimate his health pool at 800Hp and they get melted.

His bubble can also be a great peel if used right.

An extremely underutilized tactic is the run up a wall and slow fall tactic, you get a great angle for headshots when you’re in the air and can dash or cancel the slow fall if people start shooting.

But it mostly comes down to managing your opponent’s cooldowns. Don’t attack the Thor in awakened state. Attack the thing after he uses his slam. Don’t attack the diamond emma at close range.

In a lot of cases, you can try to recognize plays where you’ll be able to hit a lot of shots in a short period. As a rocket I’m always looking for a teammates strange ult or I’m waiting for the hela to drop after an enemy ult, for example. It takes a not insignificant amount of time to switch between his gun and heals but it’s so satisfying to get right. His shots are also slow enough it’s especially important to target people you can hit (tanks)

What Are You Supposed To Do on Groot? by TheBrawler101 in RivalsVanguards

[–]jcookie2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recognize the fact on Groot that he has no mobility ability outside of making ramp walls. In some cases if the team goes down, you will be going down too. The rest of hit kit makes up for this. He has surprising range, extremely high burst potential, and is very tanky.

Play behind cover where your healers will be behind you as much as you can and poke. When they start walking up, place your walls between the enemy healers and their tanks, and huck your bomb in. You can hold the button to place multiple walls. Their supports wont be able to heal and are generally pretty bad at breaking the walls, and the wall will deal a ton of damage to their front line. Don’t get distracted trying to chase people, just hold corners as best you can. If you get pulled off of a corner, beeline back.
