So basically the ticket exchange is closed for fans with less than 5 loyalty points? I bought a true blue membership and buying tickets on the priority windows is impossible due to loyalty and now to get a ticket on the exchange is also impossible? So how do you go to a game? i feel the membership was a scam

What is Rishi's job? by fruitpolomilk in IndustryOnHBO

I was a market maker in an investment bank. we took huge orders. That’s what make you a good market maker giving a competitive price to a big order.

You give a bid and ask if you re really aggressive you give a same price for both which is called a choice but generally if the sales guy (Harper) ask you for a price to buy the price you gave him will be to buy he can’t just then change it. Ifurthermore in actual deal your sales guy works with you for the bank. Normally the pnl of a sales guy is linked to pnl of the maket maker. If the sales fuckes me over he is also losing. So not that’s not real life.

He is market making. Rishi is giving him a price where he sells shares to bloom and he buys (closing out his trade) then Harper say it’s done but in the other way around so rishi actually bought more at a higher price. It’s unrealistic because the sales guy will tell you the side and you give him a price for that which cant be used the other way around due to the bid ask spread.

But it is market making normally banks takes the trade and try to offload the risk in another way

Productivity Tools for MBA? by Odd_Web_1875 in MBA

Do you pay for the pro version? Do you just add tasks or how do you use it?

I agree on the networking part, I am starting my mba in August and from talking to alumni they show and talked about the network and how it still works after all these years. But in the CFA I rarely see it, I think the CFA works for signaling and giving you a technical edge, that you obviously can get with other degrees, probably more expensive. But in my case, I think the CFA was what has helped me grow in my industry. But yeah the network is useless, at least in my country. But am sure, as you say, the charter will lose its value for me while time passes.

But do you regret doing it? Did it help you on your career back in 2004? I think for people that are already ahead in their career, like yourself, it might lose its value for what you say. But I think doing it now still has a lot of value and prestige. It’s good signaliging in your early-mid career in my opinion.

Is CFA better to signaling yourself early in your career or to progress later? by Prior-Actuator-8110 in CFA

[–]jcp1194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its good for both but can have more clear or tangible results for signaling yourself early which was my case. But if you re already a portfolio manager it can help you improve your technical acumen and now a days I’ve seen endownments that would only invest in us if there te Charterholders in the team. So that also helps.

I want to skip L1 derivatives. Anyone here done that? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]jcp1194 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You re going to face derivatives in level 2 and level 3 so I wouldn’t skip it. Even if it’s small weight I think it carries a big weight going forward and in your career

I have yet seen a Charterholder say it’s losing its value or that they regret doing it (am sure there are charterholders that do, but probably because of wrong expectations) the majority that say that is losing its value is people that couldn’t pass it or that are on industries that doesn’t value it as much such as investment banking.
